Hopefully this hasn't been suggested before, but before my boyfriend deployed we went to Build-A-Bear one day and made stuffed animals. We first picked out the animals that we wanted. Then we recorded each other a message to go inside our new friends. When we stuffed our critters and put the hearts inside of them we wrote "Angie & Steven" on one side and "Our 1st Deployment" on the other side. We then dressed them in matching desert cammies.

Now we each have something to sleep with at night (I spray his cologne on mine and he does the same with my perfume). I can also push his paw and hear his voice anytime I want.

I just thought it was a cute idea to do together before he left and it is a comfort to me, so I wanted to share! :grin:

That is such a great idea for a Christmas present. Take a picture first of them both together and send his along with the picture.

Damn you girls are so smart, no wonder I hang out here.

I know a couple who did that, and dh bought me my very own bear when he left on his last cruise, and put his voice box in there. :wub

I also want to share that at some exchanges, they do "Animal Land". It's the same as Build a Bear, but it's really easy to unzipper if you want. It can be a great little hiding place if you are sending something to your SO and you want to have a stash for him.

That's cute. We kind of did that. I was 6 months preggo with DD when he deployed and the day before he left, he built DD a bear with a voice recorder in it. I framed the bear's birth certificate in her room cuz it says her bear is "Made with love by Daddy." I started playing it for her when she was born so she could hear his voice.

I always said I'd get a Daddy doll (a doll made from his pic) just for me to sleep with-and those come with voice recorders too. But I never got around to ordering one, so I just got one for DD.

As much as I love this idea, it makes me heart sink thinking about when he will have to leave.
I wish they made time machines that you sit in, and it makes you go to sleep while hes deployed and you wake up the day he comes home.

I made my hubby one of "me" in a kinda outfit that i wear that he likes and i put my voice in, but he didnt want to take it with him he thought they would laugh at him =/ :dunno i kinda saw the point that he didnt want his bunny with him! but i think he would have liked it if he had taken it. :sigh Oh well, men and their machoness!

I made one for DB with his daughter so everynight she says goodnight to him while he's away
