I have been wanting to presue my love for photography. I had been playing with the idea of going to school for it, but living in a small town my options are pretty small. I also looked into online programs, but I wanted to make sure they were legit and be able to get some financial Aid. Well, Academy of Art seems to be my answer.

Anyway, I will be checking into all the resourse that are stickies in this forum. But has anyone has experience with the school. Any photography peeps wanting to share wisdom, mentoring a dreamer photographer? This is a big step for me, but I really want do it. I tried to teach my self but its hard with 4 kids and I just get overwhelmed to how to go about it. My ideal situation would be an apprenticship but again, I haven't been able to find anything and I also would have to get my kids in some kind of preschool and daycare. So this way, even if i have to for assignments and stuff, I will have some kind of financial help.

i personally am not sure if online classes are the way to go with photography, but that's JMO. i think having the experience of actually being in the classroom and having hands on training with an instructor would be more beneficial.

I have considered them, they are just too expensive for me though. I am not sure about the photography program, but the programs I looked into were VERY thorough and concise in regards to the major (aka no bullshit filler classes).

I know, I am not much help. But good luck to you! I should have those stickies fully updated by the end of this week. :)

I feel the same way. But being that I live in such a small town. And I have tried to do the self taught thing and its not getting me anywhere:hairpull, I thought something was better then nothing. I have a hard time reading something and understanding. I do better when its shown or I am doing it actively. My ideal situation would be an apprenticeship, I learn by doing, always have. But I just don't know what else to do. I am hoping to get a DSLR camera in January.
