14 oz sweetened condensed milk
1 tbsp peppermint extract
6 cups powdered sugar
24-32 oz semi-sweet choc. chips
4-6 tbs shortening (I didn't use this)
1. Combine sweetened condensed milk & peppermint extract.
2. Slowly add powdered sugar & beat.
3. Knead on a surface sprinkled w/ more sugar until dough is stiff (I had to use a lot of sugar so it didn't stick).
4. Add more sugar while kneading if the dough is sticky (again, I had to use a lot....the stiffer the better when it comes to the dipping part).
5. Roll small patties into a ball and then flattened on to paper. (Recipe says to cut 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inch circles...if you don't want to use your hands, you can use a wine bottle cap)
6. Let the patties dry for at least 2 hrs on each side. They need to be really dried.
7. Melt chocolate
8. Dip patties in melted chocolates (I placed each one on a fork and lowered it into the bowl).
* For #6, I put the patties in the freezer to get them hardened enough.
* After #8, I put them back in the freezer to hardened them.
