It IS sad. But that saddest part is, she actually believes what she is saying is RIGHT?!? Blows my mind.

Yeah I was lost on what she said about that too. I was like OMG someone call the police everyone I know is breaking the law! :lol

My husband is a chief, so we arent considered "poor" but my livingroom set was purchased on credit last year because we didn't have the cash to pay for it. Doesn't the majority of people buy thier furniture on some kind of loan or credit? :lol

it was a SCHOOL- COLLEGE- LOAN.. Not that YOU would know anything about that...

Are you serious? Why do you keep calling her out? WTH is your problem?

ahh I see. That still fall in the "none of your fucking business" category. Not that I think it's right if that's what she is in fact doing... but still...

That was a pretty low dig btw. You arent even old enough to have gone through college yet but you're pretty much calling her uneducated?

I am not going to pick fights with Trey, because she rocks... but even if she were referring to student loans, there are several companies/lenders that if they don't dispense directly to the school (where the money is automatically applied to tuition and fees) they will dispense the money directly to the borrower on the honor system that it will go toward educational costs and supplies..

Is it supposed to go toward furniture? No.. but someone could make the argument that they needed the new furniture for an environment conducive to studying, and it would be fine again. Once the money is in your hot little hands...They don't really care, as long as you figure out some way to pay them back.... :dunno

And you are absolutely right. Yeah I don't agree with the OP, but I wanted to clarify what people were thinking she was referring to (regular loan). And you are right, there are private loans and you can do whatever you want with those! Federal student loans are supposed to be used for school purposes, but again, you don't know anyone's situation and whether it actually IS a federal loan or not, or that they paid cash up front for tuition that was going to be used for the furniture, so the loans then ended up buying the furniture... etc. etc. etc. I just wanted to clarify that she wasn't referring to a run of the mill loan.

As far as the rest of this thread goes, I am staying far far away from it. :hi :creep :lol

I am really sick of you all telling me I am "sheltered" and have "no life experience". It's true, I am only 23 years old... someone who is 40 or 63, will have that many more years of experience than I do. But just because I have certain views doesn't mean I have NO life experience or that I have had this amazingly easy, comfortable life!!!!! I just obviously don't have your personality or your exact life and that is why my opinions differ from yours.
I have had what I consider to be an AVERAGE life, for the most part. Many people have grown up with similar problems, right? I was abused, my parents always fought and cheated, sometimes money was tight.. my dad left and moved across the country- this is a familar story to lots of people, right?? Most people have some sort of dysfunction. The only difference between me and many of my peers, is that I had cancer when I was 15. No, I have never been HUNGRY because my family couldn't afford to feed me, but my parents were also busting their asses to make sure we had something. Cancer changed me as a person and whether you like the way I look at things or not- I don't care. I have NOT had it easy my whole life.. I do NOT consider myself sheltered, and the fact that my dad helped me pursue my dream to sing-does not make me spoiled rotten. All that means is that my dad is trying to show me he loves me and wants me to try for my dreams even after all the BS that has happened in my family. I am WELL AWARE that life SUCKS sometimes, OK???
I have been saying for this entire thread that I want to help people that want to help themselves and you just continue to attack me and say "you don't know them". Ok, true.

and ps.
The people reeked of smoke whether I went near them or not. I will assume whatever I want about that. If you guys think we should just hand-out stuff to everybody.. well, good for you. I just don't agree with the welfare system as it currently is.
AND CALLING SOMEONE WHO IS A NATIVE HAWAIIAN - "HAWAIIAN" is not RACIST!!! Its a fact. You people are getting psycho.
hmm.

And my point about growing up in my white neighborhood , would have to be that people of every race are using welfare and people of every race might have different priorities than I do. I'm not just saying "Oh, Native hawaiians suck."

If any of you can speak LOGICALLY about this subject instead of with only your emotions, that would be awesome.

Ohhhhhhhh OK... that's it.... :boxing :kungfu :shoot

We tried to be nice to you, we tried really, even if we thought you were delusional... but, that was way out of line, and shows your true colors more than just about any other comment. I am :faint

I think you need to pack your things and go... because we obviously are not the right place for you... and we don't fit within your blinders... and you don't know how to shut up long enough to see the world without passing judgment.

And you are doing it to some amazing women...who would give their shirt off their back, and their last penny if you needed it. (Also have to say that the Hawaiian culture is also amazing and beautiful, but I doubt you will ever get to see that either)

This group of women is all about tolerance, and understanding, and teaching each other to be better, and share in each other's perspectives and experiences... but every once in a while someone who is not ready for that journey (such as yourself) stumbles in here and brings out the worst in us....

So... I apologize Brandi for this... but... please don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out... :mumble:gaah

I'm sorry.. but you ARE very ignorant to a lot of things and it is VERY evident in this thread.. VERY. You are also terribly immature.

You can pull the cancer card all you want :lol I also had cancer at 16 and it has since come back 4 times now ;) It doesn't make me any better than the next person for going through it.

SERIOUSLY!!! if it bugs you that much then CLOSE THE THREAD it's easy go to the exclamation point and type in the box close thread please. if you don't want to then just STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!!! who cares if people post in it or say shit. does it matter??? if i shed tears or got pissed about everything that people said on here I would never come back. That's pretty scary :oogle
I'm sorry it keeps coming back ;(

I'm not pulling a 'cancer card' at all.. My experience with it and how I handled it just changed the way I look at things.. If I seems harsh and demanding or people and not empathetic... oh well. I know I am not the only one in the world who thinks this way... There is a whole party of Republicans who think welfare should be more about helping people to help themselves.

Actually, this is the greatest place for support that I have found so far...some of the nicest, sweetest women I know are found on this board.

The reason they are calling you these names is not for your opinions...they are calling you these names because of the way you ::presented:: these opinions. Most of us have differing opinions around here, and we do respect them...unless they're presented ignorantly, and selfishly.

Your age has nothing to do with it. In the internet world, the only thing you have to go by is the words on the screen and the manner in which they are presented. We don't know you in person. That's why you (general you), we (general we), all of us, should be careful what we say and how we say it...

Or, run the risk of being called a snot/bitch/snarky/whatever.

Saying what you want is fine, but if you want to be respected, say it intelligently and with a little bit of tact and compassion...especially when you're new to a group, as you are.

everyone has had crap happen in their life weve pretty much all had ahrd times cancers no laughing matter along with being poor and death and whatever else comes you way my only problems with this thread are for one thing constantly calling out dannysgirl calling her uneducated is stepping WAY over the line...we have ALL said something at one time in our lives that could be or was considered racist im pretty sure if by accident or not...maybe possibly you didnt mean it that way and it was misconstrued and for that im sorry BUT you have personally take apart people comments and turned against them this is not needed i can see why you were upset we all get upset about things sometimes but in no way is it ok for you to turn around on the people here we are not the ones abusing the system or the ones taking advantage of your personal tax dollars...i hate to see someone have a bad experience on this board as it has truly changed my life but you can not expect a board full of mostly women to think its ok for you to bash on there incomes there financial decisions there family decisions and there education
im really sorry i dont mean to hurt anyone in this post its just this whole ordeal is getting to me
