I know there are new housing units being built and they are very pretty. I do not live on post but I love ft campbell.

You will be living in Clarksville, which is not the 'purtiest' area to be. But I didn't mind visiting xDB on post. It's pretty nice.
Speaking of Campbell and all...
Ladies! Let's Get Together! Pweez!? I know we've been wanting to, and the last event kind of fell through. Come on, we can do it. Let's all do SOMETHING!!! :P

Hi there! I'm not sure what rank your DH is, but depending on that and how big your family is depends on where they put you really. I know we live on post and I really like it, but then again, this is the first time I've been in the Army, DH was in active duty for 10 years before I met him, he had gotten out was in guards for 8 and decided to rejoin. I just felt safer coming on post rather than having to hope the place we picked was in a good location ect. Don't get me wrong, there are some very nice homes in the area. Oak Grove, and Hopkinsville are on the Kentucky side and Clarksville is on the TN side (the state line runs through the base). Depending on where you live though you have to take into consideration that the traffic in the morning can add another 45 min to get to his unit (if you live the fartherest away that I know someone) in the morning during PT time.
They have apartment style homes here, split homes, both one story and two, ones with garages and ones without. Best bet is to go to housing web site and see what you are eligible for and if that is something you can deal with. Except for the newer houses all utilities here are included, newer homes you have an alloted amount with electric and if you go over you have to pay that amount, but if you are under you get a credit. They send out a mock bill to the other communities that aren't being billed so far and I've never gone over the alloted amount even with all our halloween decorations.
Yes, there are rules to follow. Keeping your lawn neat (cut and leaves raked, stuff like that) but honestly it's not anything I wouldn't do if I was living in my own home anyway. I like being close to everything, gas station, Burger King, KFC, PX, Commisary, playgrounds, tons of stuff for kids and for adults to to on post. The schools on the KY side are kinda scary as far as test scores go, closest ones I found with good testing scores before we moved was about 20 miles from post. (I have no personal experience with any outside school, just internet research I did before we moved.) I've been happy with the ones here.
They also have childcare and swimming pools... all in all, I'm happy.
But then again, I know people who are happy to be off post in an apartment or house. I think Belvue apartments have been mentioned in the past to stay away from (problems with them not fixing things, charging for stuff when you leave, bugs stuff like that.) Housing office on post also has alot of realtor and apartment info too. Good luck and I hope things go well for you. I like it here, it's just 12 hours from 'home' for me...
Here is the housing web site: http://www.ftcampbellfh.com/
You can look at the communities and see what you are eligible for for your Dh's rank and plus get even a floor plan for the general layouts of the different housing areas.
