(Dec. 3) -- When the snarky comments about Jennifer Love Hewitt's recent bikini photos began popping up on the Internet, the actress figured it was time to defend her figure.

Hewitt took to her blog to fight back against all of the weight jabs that followed after photographs of her and her new fiance on a Hawaiian vacation emerged.

"Like all women out there should, I love my body," the 28-year-old actress tells her fans on her blog, adding "A size 2 is not fat! Nor will it ever be. And being a size 0 doesn't make you beautiful." The former Hanes model says that she has "sat by in silence" for too long, claiming women are unfairly subjected to criticism about their physique.

"I'm not upset for me, but for all of the girls out there that are struggling with their body image," Hewitt said.

Hewitt, who recently starred in the CBS drama 'The Ghost Whisperer,' announced her engagement to Scottish actor Ross McCall in late November.

Despite her frustration, Hewitt has some words of encouragement to fellow women out there: "To all girls with butts, boobs, hips and a waist, put on a bikini – put it on and stay strong."

I saw those pictures. She DOES look a little fuller than she has in the past and she should have probably chosen a better bathing suit top (her boobs are too big for strapless IMO).......but she's still not FAT by any means!

This is the reason young girls have body image issues. When you look like that and people are saying you are fat, you end up with a really skewed idea of what is a healthy body size.

I would love to have her body over mine! But, at the same time, I would probably go crazy struggling to finding clothes to fit that waist paired with that bottom. But dh would love it! :giggle

I agree, the bathingsuit is too tight and that what makes the picture problematic. If she had the correct size, she would look perfect. The papparazzi would be too busy shooting her boobs to notice anything else.

IMO, though, no way is she a size 2. If she's trying to promote a healthy body image, I wish she'd given her real size. :(

My sister is shaped the EXACT same as JH and IS a size 2. You can have curves and still fit a size 2. I think she looks great and who's bathing suit DOESN'T ride up when they are swimming?

She is far from fat! This is the reason girls are dieting at age 6!!! my SIL went on a diet at 6 and my MIL/FIL let her and she was skinny.
