It just took me almost 3 hours to get from work to daycare to home....and it's like 10 miles. I HATE WASHINGTON. I HATE WASHINGTON.:vent
I swear I'm moving to Hawaii.
At least they cancelled school for tomorrow so no work for me.
usnwife1205 12-03-2007, 07:19 PM I am sorry. I hate it too.. well, sometimes...lol... but we didn't move here by choice:giggle
harrisonsdream 12-03-2007, 07:19 PM i actually don't mind it much lol. sure hte weather right now is shitty, but i just make the best of it
KDMatthews 12-03-2007, 07:21 PM I hate the winters. They are so wet and dark and dreary and keeping me inside is a crime, not to mention my "bouncing off the walls" toddler (you know it's true, you met him Jill). I'm so ready to move...one more year
Rain. 12-03-2007, 07:21 PM I will trade you! Im dying to go home
Becca 12-03-2007, 07:22 PM At least it doesn't happen every year :)
I'm glad you hate Washington though, whenever you move to Hawaii (or wherever you're happy), you'll just be one less person for me to battle in traffic :giggle
Seriously though - I hope this all blows over for you soon, I've never seen it so bad out there.

yeah that might change my perspective when jennifer gets a bit older lol. i have a super hyper dog who i feel horrible about not walking though i've gotten much better about taking him for a walk lol.
I agree if you don't like you will be one less person for me to contend with in traffic as well. :hehe
This is going to pass although we probably are going to get more cold soon again.
usnwife1205 12-03-2007, 07:29 PM lol.. yes yes, traffic! I love summers here.. They are beautiful.. but yes, the winter is getting me or fall I should say...:giggle
Jill you are right though! Make the best of it!!
jennypage 12-03-2007, 07:32 PM :blissI LOVE WASHINGTON!! I haven't lived here in about 12 years, and I forgot how beautiful and wonderful it is!!! :cp
April 12-03-2007, 07:42 PM It sucks out there today.
It took Brenda 45 minutes to get home from my house today and thats only about a mile I think
My friend that lives in port orchard has left my house at 2 and here it is 2 hours and 45 minutes later and shes no where close to home :shock

rcwant2be 12-04-2007, 01:07 AM took me 1.75 hours to get to UW this morning on the bus from renton. my first commuting snafu. i still love WA tho!
luvmysailor81904 12-04-2007, 01:25 AM Coming to Hawaii will NOT be much better when it comes to traffic! So many people, only 3 highways and not far to go before you hit water :P
farmerschyk 12-04-2007, 02:30 AM Coming to Hawaii will NOT be much better when it comes to traffic! So many people, only 3 highways and not far to go before you hit water :P
oh Gawd ,, I so remember the traffic and it SUCKED!!! Especially Kam Hwy
360Sweetie 12-04-2007, 05:20 AM I can deal with this crappy weather because it all pays off when summer comes.Yes the traffic sucks but you learn to live with it.Every place has its issues.I am just happy it doesnt snow for long periods of time.
NikkiD 12-04-2007, 01:41 PM I love it here. I don't find the winters dreary. We have rainy days, overcast days and sunny days. I've lived where we were in deep freeze for 6 months out of the year and lived where the temperature hardly varied from 95-100 degrees all year round. I hated the snow, the ice and the cold and I hated the lack of seasons with warm weather all the time. It got old for me. Both places were dry and dusty and there was no green anywhere. I think it is beautiful here and am more than happy to endure some rain. It wouldn't be this beautiful without it.
Kindra 12-04-2007, 01:51 PM I love Washington! The floods that happened are once in forever. I do agree that people here don't know how to drive in bed conditions. Yesterday everyone drove miss daisy. But the summer is the best!

i'd rather deal with slow ass traffic because people are being cautious than accidents left and right.
i'm from tx where you'd think we were used to heavy rain and nope we still drive that way lol
Polkadot 12-04-2007, 02:14 PM Summer what summer ? it was 60 this past June at the end of the month !

That's below average and nearly have of June was over 70 degrees. Warm and comfortable. July averaged near 70 and above and almost 2 weeks at 80 or above. Plenty warm for me.

It can get muggy that's for sure! Definitely not too cold. I wouldn't like it any warmer.

i want to move somewhere where they have A/C but base is so convenient
NikkiD 12-04-2007, 03:20 PM I found this on rainfall for the US. Washington doesn't even make the top ten for any city.
The 10 rainiest cities in the U.S. by amount of annual rainfall include:
Mobile, Ala.: 67 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
Pensacola, Fla.: 65 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
New Orleans, La.: 64 inches average annual rainfall; 59 average annual rainy days
West Palm Beach, Fla.: 63 inches average annual rainfall; 58 average annual rainy days
Lafayette, La.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 55 average annual rainy days

Miami, Fla.: 62 inches average annual rainfall; 57 average annual rainy days
Port Arthur, Texas: 61 inches average annual rainfall; 51 average annual rainy days
Tallahassee, Fla.: 61 inches average annual rainfall; 56 average annual rainy days
Lake Charles, La.: 58 inches average annual rainfall; 50 average annual rainy days

So true!

Most houses that we looked at to rent or buy didnt have AC, which sucks!
KDMatthews 12-04-2007, 06:52 PM I agree with Polkadot...although the summers are beautiful...I like to be HOT. I want to wear barely any clothes and be hot all the time. I'm weird I know, but 60 or 70 is not summer to me, I want 90

I was just going to say that.
Sarah 12-04-2007, 10:41 PM Brenda and KD, I feel for you girls..I really do :hugs. I know every place has their pitfalls, and even though I absolutely love NC and the south, they have their pitfalls too, but like you girls, I need the sunshine. Being stationed in WA was a nightmare for me, but again, that is my opinion ;). I couldn't stand the dreary days and the rain. Not too much longer till ya'll are out of there :)
BTW, is JP or Bangor housing flooded in some areas?

Coastie's Grrrl 12-04-2007, 10:59 PM I have lived in WA state for about 11 years- mostly in the Seattle area. I lived in Southern Oregon before that and Southern California before that, and New York before that and Montana before that.... I love Seattle for many reasons- the beautiful wilderness and snow boarding, the San Juan Islands and the beaches, all really nearby with a large city and all of the things that it offers including great restaurants, theater, art, music, fantastic book stores and Nordstroms... The gray weather does get to me and I do tend to travel in order to get through it. I almost always go on a few sun vacations in the winter and I use a full spectrum lamp on my desk. Blustery weather can always be enjoyed with a great cup of coffee at one of our many independent coffee shops and a cute pair of wellies! Summers here are beautiful though and the spring brings the cherry blossoms at the UW campus and the fall brings brightly colored leaves all over the place. Over all this is a really livable place and it's too bad if you don't give it a chance.Welcome to WA!!:lovecoffee:weldust

I knew it!! I told people that we got more rain in Pensacola than in WA!
I know living on Whidbey we don't get a lot of the rain and blah weather that Seattle and south gets, but I truly love WA. I missed seasons. I grew up in England. You think it rains in WA, and we have dreary days, try living for 20 years in England. But that's my home so that what I consider "normal." I was about at my wits end after 4 non-winters in Pensacola. Sorry, but t-shirt and shorts should not be appropriate attire for Christmas Day!!
It took me a little bit to adjust to being back here, and yeah, not having a/c is weird. It's funny because I never knew I missed it because before Pensacola I'd never had a/c before! LOL. But this summer was more warm than I remember it being in years past.
I love the snow, but I work from home so I don't have to go out if I don't want to. Rain doesn't bother me. Wind is nothing compared to England, so I'm a happy camper! We don't really have a traffic issue up here on Whidbey (except for the tourists) so I can't even complain about that. Now, if only they'd get BAH in line with what it actually costs up here....
petsparkle 12-04-2007, 11:11 PM BUT can you find me how many straight GRAY days in ROW WA has ?:arg I realize Wa supposedly" does not get alot of rain but how many days does WA go without seeing the sun sometimes ?? Don't ever take orders in England. We go MONTHS without seeing the sun sometimes.
Funny though- I flew to England last Christmas to see the cold and dreary weather from Florida! Most people are going to FL for the sun. I went to England for the cold and rain! Yeah, I guess us Brits are weird sometimes.
Polkadot 12-05-2007, 02:58 PM It just boils down to the fact that not every place is for everyone !:P
I did grow up in WI and I have lived in all four season's and if I could live in place like AZ or Fl for the rest of my life I'd be happy not to see all four season's ! but that's just me ! :P Warm hot weather is my thing !
Casey 12-05-2007, 05:23 PM Oh honey, Hawaii is worse! Picture this...its about the size of San Diego (not sure if you have been here before) but its got all the people of California, Oregon, and Washington combined! So if you think the traffic in Washington is bad, you wont believe it when you sit in traffic on the H1 for an hour and a half just to get through 3 exits!!!
missjenn00 12-05-2007, 05:25 PM i hate arkansas..the people dont know how to drive and the roadways are messed up.
timshel 12-14-2007, 03:10 AM I miss the cold, LOL. We're moving back to Oregon (from Hawaii) in July, and I CAN'T WAIT! :D
