I saw on the news last night that Extreme Home Makeover is here in Va this week building a house for a Soldier. He's home for R&R and they said that he went with Ty and the designers to surprise his wife and 2 sons. It doesn't say when it will air but I can't wait to see it!!!
Here's the link to the video from the news clip (couldn't find a written article) http://www.wric.com/global/video/popup/pop_player.asp?ClipID1=1982461&h1=Central%20Virginia%20Family%20Gets%20Extreme%20Home%20Makeover&vt1=v&at1=News&d1=133500&LaunchPageAdTag=Homepage&activePane=info&playerVersion=1&hostPageUrl=http%3A//www.wric.com/&rnd=38391472

CULLEN - On convoy duty with the Virginia Army National Guard in Iraq since September, Spc. Michael Lucas flew home for a two-week leave and a surprise yesterday.
He, his wife and two sons were selected to be the next family featured on ABC TV's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."
This means the house he'd been building in a small Prince Edward County community near Farmville will be torn down and a new one will be built in seven days -- while the family is in Walt Disney World.
Lucas was brought in by helicopter to the Farmville Army National Guard Armory and driven yesterday to the home the family rents in Cullen, Charlotte County.
Lucas, 38, and his wife, Jean, 33, have two sons, Michael Henry, 11, and Joseph, 6, who has been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder.
Lucas was building a house on a 3.7-acre tract near Rice but his work was cut short by his mobilization. He is on active duty with the 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry in Iraq where his unit's duties include providing convoy security. Lucas arrived in Kuwait in late August and has been in Iraq since early September.
"It has been very surreal, and I can't even believe it is happening," Jean Lucas said. "I keep telling myself this can't be real. It hasn't hit me yet.
"Michael worries about us because we have so far to drive, so a new house would give him less to worry about," she said of their trips to Farmville. "It would be so nice to have our own home."
Jean Lucas home schools both sons, and members of the home schooling cooperative she belongs to nominated the family for the show.
Each episode of the show begins with Ty Pennington's now-famous "Good morning!" wake-up call, when he and the other designers tell the unsuspecting family that their home has been chosen to receive a makeover.
The episodes show designers, contractors and hundreds of workers racing to finish a project in seven days that would ordinarily take several months to complete. Viewers watch the transformation of the house and at the end of the show see how the project has affected the lives of the family.
Yesterday, friends and neighbors gathered to watch as Pennington and others with the show met the family.
"It's very exciting, and we are happy for them," said Anne Hamilton, whose husband's grandmother owns the house that the Lucases are renting. "This has to be the best Christmas present."
Surrounded by her family, Hamilton said Cullen is a place where "nothing ever happens" the arrival of the show and its cast and crew is exciting.
Her son, 4½-year-old Liam, and daughter, 2½-year-old Kate, played around her feet as she talked.
The show is her son's favorite, Hamilton said, and the family was thrilled as Pennington walked from the house in Cullen and cheerfully returned their waves.
Contractor Ken Broadwater of Cartersville will coordinate the work. The project needs 100 to 200 volunteers per day to help with traffic control, cleanup, catering and shipping, Ken Broadwater said. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Some are needed overnight.
Those interested in volunteering can contact the company through its Web site, www.kenbroadwaterhomes.com (http://www.kenbroadwaterhomes.com/).
Capt. Dayna E. Rowden, a public affairs officer with the Virginia National Guard, said she hopes that 150 guard members show up from across the state Saturday to help with the work and "to showcase a Virginia National Guard family -- show what the Virginia National Guard is all about. It's about close-knit community and close-knit family."
Broadwater said he has no idea how much the undertaking would have cost if it were paid for.
"We have people actually putting their business on hold so we can utilize them," he said. "It's a nice home. Nobody has been talking dollars and cents. Everybody has been stepping up giving it to them."

That is cool! We love watching the show. My kids always tell me how they would love them to come do a house for us and I tell them to be thankful that we are not in the sad circumstances that most of these families are in to get on the show.

That's what I tell my oldest too. After every show I hear "why can't they come build us a house like that". I say "because we are lucky enough that we haven't had horrible things like that happen to us".
