View Full Version : Hampton Roads - Cox Internet Referral?

Seeing that Verizon doesn't offer DSL in my neighborhood (:grumpy), it looks like my only option for high speed internet is through Cox.

I'm using Direct TV for the tv's - does anyone else use both? How does that work out?

And if anyone has Cox Internet services, would you like to refer me? I saw when I was researching online that the referring customer gets a month of free internet for it, so I thought I'd come here and ask before I signed up.

Any takers?

we have cox. they have this package deal. be weary of this. They advertise it as "The Bundle" Kristen. With this you get telephone, cable and High Speed Internet. It's suppose as the commercial says at $99.00 a month, but in the small print between taxes, surcharges, etc. It's more like $120? (not that it's a huge difference) but, I think mildly deceptive?! :screwy

If you get this package the basic cable is 40-45? and digital is 60-65? the internet service is $42.00 a Month? and than depending on WHAT kind of phone service you get will determine the rest and there's all different packages, long distance providers etc.

One thing I just found out and that's after 2.5 years of living in this ever so exciting command :sigh is that there is some special military deal. Nice eh? Nobody told me about it. Until the rep, came with my motem to setup to setup the internet. It's only a few dollars, but still - why did no one tell me till years later :thinking, :screwy. When you sign up for this there is some kind of program or offer? they gave me/us. It's $36.95 a month (again only a few dollars) you sign a contract I think for 2 years? to secure the rate, but there's a military clause if DH gets new orders or something changes you can break this contract. There is normally a $80.00 cancellation penalty, but this is waived (free) for military purposes. The guy was like, like you can help it if they say you have to go and I shook my head. :no

I wouldn't go with Verizon. I know they offered it where we live when we first got here. Cox is good. No issues.
*just watch your statements, so they bill out correctly. I've caught a few errors, either human error (data entry) or something entered in the system wrong (electronic issue/but really data entry b/c the worker put it in).

:goodluck

Hmmm. I didn't realize at first that I could do phone through Cox too. I would much rather have two bills instead of three, since I'm definitely keeping DirectTV for my tv services.

That is the refer a friend link. You choose what service you want to refer me to, and they send me a coupon I guess? And if I redeem you, you get a month of free service.

So if someone wants to refer me, pm me and I'll give you my info. I figure it can't hurt to help someone get a month for free! :)

Let Jamie - she posted first. That's fair. I don't care/mind either way.

Yes, they can bill it all out in 1 statement. Make sure your clear on the amt of each separate billing item and than like I said make sure to doublecheck them when they come. I've caught minimal errors. Just put it all in one or the others name (DH or yours) if it's in his, since your wife they let you access it easily, no your not the acct holder scenario and you don't need POA or anything. Just general access my acct please. They're okay. No complaints in general. :goodluck

i appreciate it. but it's not a big deal. i have a promotional deal anyway for my first 3 months. i dont want her to revoke a promise that she already gave to someone else, that wouldn't be fair either. really, no worries.
