I put this in boot camp because it adds another layer to the what to get him dilemma. My guy is in Basic, but of course coming home for Christmas Exodus. He'll be home until the 2nd of January and then he'll be back at training until well we don't really know when yet. I didn't want to give him something that he'd only be able to use for 7 days and then have to put it on a shelf for months.

What are some of you other girls with guys in training planning to give him? Any ideas??

My ideas thus far....

I already got him a pen and had it engraved with his name. Then the outside of the box also has an engraved plate that says Merry Christmas and the date. I also ordered his whole family a series of Christmas ornaments so I got him one that matches that too (I am really hoping they get here in time, the shipping estimate is sometime between the 19th and 24th, EEEK).

I'm also thinking about a movie gift card equal to the cost of two tickets plus some concessions and putting a note in there that it is for us to use before he leaves, MAYBE. I'm also debating a black apron, because he says he's always wanted one in black.

Most of it though would still end up on a shelf for months after.

I think your ideas are great. my dh is at ait now so i was going to get him a portable dvd player because they told him he could have it. now they changed their mind and said they cant have any electronics at all. so what i am getting him will have to stay put up until he gets home. the movie thing is a great idea. when dh comes home i have found a babysitter and me and him are going to have a nice night out. that is one of our presents together. the pen thing is great too, he will definitely be able to put it to use!
