View Full Version : Sleep Talker
marinewife_sd 12-13-2007, 05:02 AM Does you SO talk in their sleep? My Dh always talks in his sleep and I'm always listening and asking him questions and he would answer all of my questions.:giggle At our last duty station he worked with the recruits so he was always yelling as if he was yelling at a recruit.
Do you having any stories to share?
MIKOSWIFEY 12-13-2007, 05:04 AM :giggle My husband used to talk in his sleep SOOO much (before boot). He also does martial arts in his sleep. That's kind of disastrous for ME. :lol
kiwijus 12-13-2007, 05:06 AM My favorite was right after we got married (about a year and a half into his military career) DH sat BOLT upright and went, "AIRMAN ******* REPORTS AS ORDERED, SIR!!" I said, "Who are you reporting to?" and he looked at me weird and he goes, "What are you doing in boot camp?"
I said, "Going in the Air Force!" and he sat at attention again and goes, "And the rockets' red glare...", saluted, and passed out again :teehee
proudofmysailor 12-13-2007, 07:06 AM Every once in a while he will talk in his sleep, and I will wake up thinking he is talking to me.
The most "famous" time was many years ago when he told me I couldn't drive my car in the morning until he changed the wires.
I said "What wires?"
And he practically yelled - THE PINK WIRES!
I stayed up for hours wondering what was wrong with my car (nothing) and when Honda started using pink wires (they don't)...
We still laugh about it!

HAAAAAAAAAAHAHA OMG! I just spit my drink all over my lap when I read that! :hystericlaugh
Mine just mumbles but that usually happens when he's under a lotta stress. It's kinda annoying after a while but it's also understandable why :)

PrincessBlue505 12-13-2007, 10:47 AM Ya, last night DH woke up and asked what was going on. I had forgot to turn on the baby monitor, so that's what I was doing and told him. He was like, "Where are they?" I was like, "Who?" He said, "The babies." I was like, "The babieS??! How many kids do we have?" He was like, "Both of them." I was like, "Both of them? We have 2 kids? Do you know where they are?" He was like, "It's ok. They're both right here in our room."
What makes this conversation so interesting? We only have 1 child....lol I kept thinking, is his subconscious trying to tell me I'm pregnant? I sure hope not...
Dh does not talk in his sleep but apparently I do... my mom has a tape of me singing my abc's in my sleep (that was about a week before I got married) and dh says he carries on conversations with me on a regular basis without me having a clue.
Laurie119 12-13-2007, 11:06 AM Hubby talks in his sleep, I usually can't understand what in the hell he is saying though. It has to do with his PTSD.
ashleyd 12-13-2007, 11:09 AM Db has told me he talks in his sleep. He said he woke himself up the other night talking. I talk in my sleep too. So I wonder if we'll talk to eachother in our sleep!
Ashnbri 12-13-2007, 11:21 AM He doesn't but I do...I know my mom would always look at my weird thinking I was awake and talking to her :lol
ChewiesBaby 12-13-2007, 11:24 AM Mine talks in his sleep too and subsequently both our daughters have inherited from him. :lol Once him & his brother actually carried on a conversation while they were BOTH asleep. :suspect
Devinn 12-13-2007, 11:31 AM My favorite was right after we got married (about a year and a half into his military career) DH sat BOLT upright and went, "AIRMAN ******* REPORTS AS ORDERED, SIR!!" DF talks in his sleep (if he isnt SNORING to call animals) but its usually something work related so I just kick him and tell him to roll over :teehee
I woke myself up laughing the other night:dunno
mn_princess 12-13-2007, 11:39 AM The DB doesn't talk in his sleep, but i do. He's deployed right now so sometimes he calls at 3 in the morning my time. My roommate told me that the other night she heard me saying "hello?! i'm good....ok. i love you" in like a talking/whisper voice. i checked my phone when she told me that.....no calls. :teehee
SnarphBlat 12-13-2007, 12:00 PM :giggle My husband used to talk in his sleep SOOO much (before boot). He also does martial arts in his sleep. That's kind of disastrous for ME. :lol

ijustdidit2012 12-13-2007, 12:02 PM Db talks in his sleep it is mostly babble but after a hardcore day of football on last sunday he was acting like i was the coach and he was trying to get in the game it was hilarious
Kelleysquared 12-13-2007, 12:08 PM My df doesn't..but his dad does.
One time he said something about robotic chickens (I hear this from my future MIL).
His dad also farts, snores, an mumbles in his sleep
Hopefully df doesn't inherit that.
NCSoldiersWife 12-13-2007, 12:12 PM My DH has been doing this a lot lately... although he's always done it. Right after we got married (while he was stationed in Germany), he would talk German in his sleep... and I still catch him doing it from time to time... I'm pretty sure he hailed a cab one night, and the other night I think he was cussing me out in German..lol. Maybe I should learn so that I know what he's actually saying..lol
ArmyWifey21 12-13-2007, 12:19 PM My DB talks in his sleep every once in awhile, usually when he's stressed, I could never really make out any words that made sense, he was just mumbling, he started that a few months before he was about to deploy

One night I was trying to get my DH to tell me his show time for work the next day (it changes daily) and he goes, "I can't. I can't use that door."
"What door?"
"The WORK door!"
"What time is your show tomorrow, Aron?"
"I CAN'T USE THAT DOOR! ...They're repainting the parking lot."
"What parking lot?"
"Officer parking. F'cking officers. Now I can't use that door."
:rofl I set the alarm for 4 am and let him deal with it :D
kiwijus 12-13-2007, 01:33 PM Db has told me he talks in his sleep. He said he woke himself up the other night talking. I talk in my sleep too. So I wonder if we'll talk to eachother in our sleep!
I saw this show on discovery channel about dreams, and there were these two girls (identical twins) talking to each other in their sleep. They were talking about school and stuff, and you hear one of them going, "Hold on my phone is ringing..." and the other one going, "Oh no wait, it's mine. SHIT it's mom!" "Well hang up!" and they both said, "BYE MOM!" :lmao I want to be that mom, hearing your kids in the middle of the night...
Berkley 12-13-2007, 01:35 PM Matt talks gets up and rummanges hides and says there's a bomb. He's hopped up at attention before. It's disconcerting b/c it all happened after Korea before that he slept like the dead. He's also hopped up and thrown on his uniform and stood up at attention shouting yes sir no sir etc.
I talk but it's mumbling.
Casadorra 12-13-2007, 01:43 PM He doesnt talk in his sleep. But he does wake up with a jump as if he is having bad dreams.
Caimbrie 12-13-2007, 01:44 PM My husband does and I do it worse.
andreacc 12-13-2007, 01:55 PM Db does it's mostly mumbling so I would talk to him an ask him what's going on. Next time i'll try to remember what he talks about.
RonniesWifeJen 12-13-2007, 02:24 PM DH doesn't talk in his sleep. He will wake up and talk for just a minute and then pass out again. Sometimes he doesn't remember it at all.
DD and I talk in our sleep though.
RonniesWifeJen 12-13-2007, 02:31 PM My DH has been doing this a lot lately... although he's always done it. Haha, my dad and brother speak German, I don't. They often talk about me in German. The worst part is they will yell at me in German. They say it's because german is angry sounding language so it flows better. i think they do it because then I can't fight back. I have a much quicker tongue than them and they are both logical people while I am emotional so we never see eye to eye and they can't keep up with an argument in English. So they one up me in German. It always takes me forever to try and figure out what they were yelling at me about.
DH picked up on the trick and mumbles cuss words in Italian when he's mad at me.
Dh talks in his sleep occasionally. mostly mumbles
KatReborn 12-13-2007, 03:05 PM Dh talks in his sleep, but sometimes you can't tell he's asleep. Sometimes he will sit up and his eyes are almost open and he will be carrying on a conversation with me and then in the middle of it he will lay down again and then be snoring within seconds. It's kind of bizarre. We were asleep one night and he yelled out "i hate you" and then like half ass punched my arm, i pushed him off the bed and he was so confused when he woke up. He was freaking out that he punched my arm (it didn't hurt I was more mad he woke me up) and since then he tries to be sneaky and put like a pillow between us.
mrs_ski 12-13-2007, 03:09 PM My DH always talks about work in his sleep. i think its cute!
I need to start writing what he says down, because sometimes it is really funny!
usmc_wifey85 12-13-2007, 03:10 PM Dh talks in his sleep sometimes, its so funny cause he'll start having conversations with me :giggle
I talk sometimes and I've even caught myself doing it too haha
Pebbles 12-13-2007, 03:13 PM We have convos while he is passed out.
I'll ask him stuff and he will answer me :screwy
farmerschyk 12-13-2007, 03:17 PM ya from time to time he will and comes away with the craziest things... also my kids do it as well
~Christina~ 12-13-2007, 04:11 PM DH doesn't talk in his sleep but DD and i do....she only really does it when she's really really tired...but i do it a lot...once with an ex.. ( i used to work at office depot) i threw my hand up and yelled i can take the next person at copy and print...i think i woke everyone up in the house and i also bruised my wrist from hitting it on the headboard....then one time when i was young my mom caught me just standing and staring at myself in the mirror....she said it was really freaky...
pbjtime 12-13-2007, 05:57 PM Hahaha, I'm still laughing at Kiwi's post!!
DB has never talked in his sleep, although one time he was snoring SO loud he woke himself up and looked at me as if I had woken him up, I told him, OH NO you woke yourself up by snoring!!
LOL, Anyways, I'm the one who talks in sleep! But only when I am EXTREMELY tired...SO the last time I was out to visit him, was for the Marine Corps Ball, and with the time changes and everything I had been up for 22 hours, so when I finallly got some sleep, I was ZONKED out!! And I yelled Shut up and hit him in the chest! And he didn't even tell me until the next morning! lol, what a sweetie
MSJackson 12-13-2007, 06:15 PM dh doesnt, but ds does. he use to have night terrors and cry and jerk around with his eyes wide open. now he just crys sometimes. one night he was crying and I asked what was wrong and he started talking about a boulder coming to get him and thomas. another night night he was crying because diesel was chasing him. I stopped letting him watch Thomas the tank engine after two different nightmares from it. He still plays with all of his Thomas trains though.
NavyWife410 12-14-2007, 05:31 AM Dh talks in his sleep some its mostly mumbles... i cant really understand any of it, it never makes sense :screwy Ive tried to talk to him and get him to answer questions that i make up it never works it usually wakes him up if i say anything to him
MaggieMae 12-14-2007, 05:45 AM When DB joined, everyone gave him shit for being from Kansas, so one night, he starts saying, "You ain't in Kansas no more boy". :giggle
He has gotten in 2 fights in his sleep though... I have been punched in the jaw and elbowed in the chest. Of course, they were on accident and he didn't know he did it, but I sure as hell woke him up!!!
