View Full Version : Stainless steel cookware
amandalaine 12-13-2007, 09:28 PM Is is non-stick? Or does it stick really bad? I'm wanting to get new cookware for Christmas because the stuff we have right now, the enamel is coming off and I'm starting to see little black bits in my mac and cheese :suspect I'm wanting either glass or stainless steel so this won't happen again...this is the second set it's happened with. The NEX has an Emeril set on sale this weekend so I was thinking about that...any suggestions?
68W-LVR 12-13-2007, 09:30 PM Mine is pretty good but not perfect. I have the Calphalon stuff. I just have to make sure I have enough oil or butter and be careful not to burn stuff. T-fal stuck less but I wouldn't go back.
jlbecker 12-13-2007, 09:34 PM we have the emeril's and i think the inside is stainless steal with a copper in-lay. as long as i use a little oil, it doesn't stick too bad. they are very easy to clean though. the insides are still very shiny!
rosebud* 12-13-2007, 09:37 PM you will need to use either oil or a pam spray to keep food from sticking. it's not like teflon.

The Calphalon (sp?) I have says on the booklet not to put it in the dishwasher.

ummmm, i never have but i would think you can. dh puts them in the oven, so i dont see why not. when i clean them i dont have to scrub very hard.
the emerils aren't calphalon. i think they're steel & copper. i can check my box, i think i have it, if you want.

I cuss after I make eggs. I cuss a LOT after. I have to soak the crap out of them and scrub them with steel wool.
DakotaCowgirl 12-16-2007, 08:43 PM I use farberware. I love them. They are stanless steel, I put them in the dishwasher, I love them. I keep a couple of nonstick around for things like eggs or pancakes.
With the nonstick, you can't put them into the dishwasher even if they say it is alright. It ruins the nonstick stuff. Also, don't use pam in those. Does the same thing.
Victoria 12-16-2007, 08:52 PM If you get Pampered Chef non-stick, they're lifetime guaranteed!!! :)
Theresa 12-16-2007, 09:54 PM I prefer stainless steel over teflon, unless I'm cooking eggs. :lol I have a small teflon pan especially for eggs.
However, my next set will be enamal covered cast iron. :yes :wub
gotcurls 12-18-2007, 01:34 AM We have cuisinart stainless steel pot & pans. We use olive oil to cook with and we just drizzle some into the pan before cooking. It did take some time for me to get used to using the stainless after only using teflone before but now I like it and don't think I would go back. We have a griddle & an electric skillet that we use for things like eggs & pancakes.
sailorspride 12-21-2007, 10:09 AM Nothing is ever fully non stick...just use a little olive oil to keep it slightly greased...you could use butter or something but olive oil is much better for you!! LOL!!
