So, I had some misadventures with my Hanukkah candles and the new menorah (I want my menorah back! lol)...

And I managed to get wax on: a window, a wooden (sealed) table, and a white, painted (wood, I believe) window sill.

What's the best way to get it off? Especially off of the glass (window)?

TIA.

glass scraper. Be careful not to scrape the paint. it works great. :yes

I got it all over the kitchen counter and used my finger nails to get it off. Not a good option though. A glass scraper or even a thin knife should work ...just be super careful around the paint

On the window I would say with a blade, just make sure you don't press on the edges of the blade too much or you might scratch the window. On the rest get a rag and blow with your hair dryer set on the hotest setting and try to see if it gets softer that way and easier to remove. You could even try the iron. :goodluck

Me too!!

I would go for the softener option first. On the glass it should come off pretty easily if it's cold, it should just come off in one piece once you break the seal at the edge. For the wood I'd try the hair dryer first. I use the iron for if it gets on a carpet (put a paper towel down first!!) but I'd be worried about it burning the wood or discoloring the white painted part. You can get a thing at the store called Wax Away if none of these work.

Oo...a hair dryer is a good idea. Why have I never heard of that before? I'm going to try it next time.

Not that you did this but I've heard that you can use a paper bag and iron to get it out of cloth

Okay, well I officially love you all. I never would've thought of the hairdryer - but the wax is ALL off the window and I was freaked about that!

Unfortunately, I kinda think it stained the white paint. :sadeyes Oh well, not like the paint was in fantastic condition when we got here, I just wanted to make sure I did all I could to get the wax off.

P.S. If I'd been talking about something else, I wouldn't've been posting in homemakers... I hope! :lmao But yeah, I can see how ya'll would've thought that. Hope the mental image was worth it.

put ice cubes on it and then just peel it off. Just like you'd put somethign in the freezer to take the wax off of it.... i don't know, just my idea

never knew about the dryer. I normally just peel it off, if it's real diffacult, careful with a knife and ecspecially around the paint.

Scrape it with a razor blade to get it off the window and the pane...as for the table...try to scrape it off with your finger then use goo be gone...I dunno!

It happened to me but it was not a window. It was my brand new furniture. A friend came over, got a towel, put it over the wax and stemed it with the iron and all of it came right off. I am not sure about windows.
