Hey everyone. So my soldier is currently at his AIT training down in Fort Sill. He's only been there for a week now. But since he has gotten there, I've gotten a phone call every night and he even texts me throughout the day from his cell phone. Well last night, he didn't call me. So I thought that was weird because he always calls me. I called his phone and it is turned off. And right now, it is still off. So this is where I start to worry, lol. I mean if his phone died, he would have charged it by now. Or if there was something wrong with his phone, I'm sure one of his friends would have let him borrow their phone so he could tell me. He knows how much I worry. I don't know how they are there, and I don't know if maybe he got in trouble and they took it away?? I mean do they do that at AIT? I guess I'm just looking for some advice on what could be going on. I tend to worry about the smallest things, and I just really hope that everything is okay with him. Any thoughts?

They should be allowed to have cells... my hubby has his and he's at Ft. Gordon AIT, my brother went to Sill and had his...so they should have them unless someone was using it when they weren't supposed to "during duty hours" and they got them put away for a bit. Or they could be doing seminars and just not have had as much time...or they could be in the field doing field exercise where they are not allowed phones (that should only last a few days) this is all I can think of...

DB did is AIT at FT. Leonardwood. I know he didn't have his because he decided to binge on fudge the night before his PT test, which they had to pass before they could get them. But most of the people he was with had their's and DB almost always found a way to call me at least three times a week. He's probably just busy.

DF is at AIT right now too. The first few days, he had his cell phone, and then, they got their personal things taken away after that until they earned them back by good behavior. He called me from a pay phone or their day room phone for about a month....now it's back to cell phone city, thank goodness!

since AIT is still kinda like boot camp they are still subject to having things removed for "bad behavior" so to speak.

DH has his and he just got to AIT, and as long as he maintains passing everything and his PT test then he can keep it and use it at night for like an hour and then on the weekends after 1pm. I know he's not allowed to use it during the day to text so maybe if yours got caught texting when he is suppose to be doing something else he could have gotten it taken away. That's all I can think of tho.

I agree with the other ladies. my dh is at ait at ft. jackson and i just got off the phone with him actually. he has had his cell phone the whole time, but sometimes when i call all i get is his voice mail, and that just means he is doing something or cant talk.....but in your case they might have gotten in trouble or something and taken them away from all of them, not sure. hope he calls you soon.

My dh is the "vice-principle" of the AIT here at Ft. Sill and I asked him about cell phones... he replied that if he failed an exam, a pt test, acted inappropriately, or had whatever infraction... yes the cellphones get taken. They've had many issues recently and personal belongings have been taken.

thanks for replying girls...I still haven't heard from him. One of my friends said it could be something to do with the ice storms down there, but I doubt it. I'm still super worried. :(:(

you shouldn't worry about it =] my boyfriends at tech school (air force) and has had a cell phone since the first week as well. there are some days i'll only get text messages, and other days where ill get texts and calls. there are also lots of times where they cant have their cells with them.
