how long did it you girls to get your first letter in basic? my boyfriend is been gone 2 weeks and 3 days and i still havent gotten a letter? i'm stating to get sad because i havent heard anything since the first week when i got his box of clothes..! hes in basic at great lakes for the navy... how long was the wait girls?

Its usually at least 2 weeks..they dont usually get to write on their first week there or i didnt get to :dunno Should be coming shortly i imagin, they only get to send letters out on sundays, so that monday they would be in the mail or at least otw to be mailed. So probably next week you will get one

Don't worry, that is still soon to be hoping for a letter. I wouldn't get upset until it's been more like four weeks. And she is right, Sunday is their only day to write letters.

I got mine i think at like 3 weeks. It took a while because he was in reception for like almost 2 weeks.

I know how you feel the Marines are the same way when my DH was at Parris Island I got that first I have arrived call then it was about 3 weks before a letter came your Sailor is very busy at the moment but that doesnt mean he isnt thinking of you YOU are probably on his mind 24/7 Keep writing letters to him support him let him know even if he cant write that you still love him and are waiting

They held my Marines letters from me for a coupe weeks at boot they held everyones till he wrote to me asking why I hadnt written he was scared I gave up waiting Hell I am so in love with him and we have been maried 8 years but they still worry

everyone gets their letters at different times. There's a girl on here whose DB is in the same div and ship as mine and she got her letter in 1 week (I think, dont quote me) and I got mine in a week and 5 days. But that's because my DB was using his sleeping time to stay up and write letters, which was naughty of him. He should have been sleeping.
Your DB is probably being smart and only writing on sundays, and didn't get a chance to write his first sunday because of processing. Or, maybe he wrote huge long letters and didn't put enough postage on them, my DB has told me that some guys are getting their letters home sent BACK to them because they didn't use enough stamps.
I'm sure you'll get a letter soon and your world will be put right again. I remember the agony of waiting for my first letter, it's terrible not knowing what's going on. But you have to remember to be patient - if he hasn't had the chance to write to you yet, it's for a good reason. Trust me, writing to you is probably the ONLY thing he wants to do right now. Have faith, it'll come :)

Don't worry about getting a letter, right now since he just got to basic he is very busy getting broke in to the new rules and regulations that are being thrown at him. He has alot of things going on, he will have some down time soon, so just be patient. The military is very demanding and being a military spouse, girlfriend or significant other is even more difficult, You will have to do some sacrificing and alot of understanding, Keep this in mind you are on his mind, he is thinking about you and you are always the last thing on his mind before he goes to bed and the first thing he thinks about when he gets up in the morning.:egypt

She's right they all come at different times...my DF[was then DB:giggle] got to Great Lakes on Nov 20. I got my first letter a day after my bday on Nov 28. I was shock at how quickly he was able to write. He still hadnt recieved my letters yet but they did let him write...:dunno

my boyfriend got up there on the 26th and I didnt get my first letter until Dec 13. I dont think there is a real schedule you can go by. He said that they are having some issues with the mail because a lot of people hadn't gotten any letters from home and others had already gotten 2 or 3.

I got mine around three weeks, also. He didn't get to write the first Sunday either. So, I just got my first letter last Wednesday. Don't worry. It will come soon. I'm sure he would write sooner if he could. My db said someone in his division tried to write sooner and got in HUGE trouble.
