Hello Ladies!
I wanted to come in here and tell you that I've personally dealt with PTSD, and I'm a counselor specializing in it. (I'm still a "baby counselor" Just graduated, but have had practical experience).
If you ever need someone to talk to or need resources I'd be more than happy to help you out!
I'm going to come in time to time to check out posts too. Like I said, I've been there and I know just how hard it can be. Best to you!

I'm dealing with PTSD now. Mikey is an "ex", but I still worry about him and have been really confused as to how to help him (or not help him). It's been HORRIBLE, to say the least!
Welcome to the board! It's great to have you!

you ladies are so wonderful. Don't forget how strong you are! (L) I've seen it just in the two days i've been here!
Welcome my dear. You're in exactly the right place! I was just talking on the phone earlier to one of the counselors from the www.thesoldiersproject.org who are trying to support families and soldiers for free and outside the system and we were discussing how difficult it is to get proper support from a normal counselor who doesn't have PTSD or military experience. My BF has been having a really tough time out in Afghanistan and has shut down and turned off and when I spoke to a normal counselor she seemed overwhelmed by the situation and suggested that it was impossible to deal with and that I should leave. Anyway, welcome and good for you for specializing in this much needed issue!

Congrats on graduating! I too am a mental health professional. I'm a social worker (LCSW). I think it's great that you want to focus on PTSD and veterans. So much help is needed in this area and it's only getting worse. It's far from my interests and area of expertise, but I wish you lots of luck!
What type of degree did you get?

I've got a master's in clinical psychology. I'm getting licensed as an LPC. I'm taking two years off and then going for my PhD. Then I will be a full psychologist and can help much more!

I am new to this site and completely lost. How do you begin to deal with ptsd?
