View Full Version : I have some questions?
jeepgirl 12-19-2007, 08:14 PM My DB is currently in bct/ait.....ousets? i think that is right...
i know there is no break in between-they go right from one to another, but here is the question, is it as rough as basic? or do they get some breathing room? do they get to have some personal items, such as cell phones and what nots? DB is not sure! after some time in there and being good, do they earn liberty days?
i know a lot of questions, i am just wondering!
Not to rub it in on anyone, i dont want to do that at all, but they are off for christmas and its the best present ever....i get to go pick up my present tomorrow....
Thanks
Daria
AG2Wife 12-19-2007, 09:01 PM at basic they don't allow cell phones. I think you can have some pictures, letters, a watch. no civilian clothes... just stuff you can keep in your locker. DH didn't have any liberty during basic, only at graduation. - keep in mind navy may be different than army.
I don't know how army boot camp is. My brother went through it 10 years ago & i'm sure it's changed since then!
Mak327 12-19-2007, 09:27 PM If he's just doing basic straight to AIT, then it will be different than OSUT. If he's doing them in separate places or with separate batallions or whatnot, then the basic and the AIT will be quite different. Definately much more freedom at the AIT portion of this. Cell phones, etc (they still can only be used during personal time, but they get to have them). They can earn passes for the day usually during AIT. With OSUT, there isn't really a definition of time where they go from one to the other, it is all sort of blended together, so I don't know how they work privileges with that, but I've heard it is far less freedom than just doing regular basic and regular AIT back to back.
Where he is will also have a huge impact on how much freedom and when and whatnot.
jeepgirl 12-20-2007, 12:26 AM thank you so much
he is doing the blended version....so i guess there is a lot less freedom....
I wasnt quite understanding it, i knew someone who did it 20 years agoa and it was 2 separate things, but now things have changed....
so i guess i will just have to wait and see what comes along
jjcreekmore 12-20-2007, 12:08 PM let me know how it goes I am fixing to go through everything you are now. My husband is going straight from bct to ait but they are in different places, south carolina for bct and georgia for ait. Good luck I know it is hard !!!!
