JudyB 04-10-2006, 05:10 PM Sooo...we got our first power bill today...HOLY CRAP...:inshock :ohno
Well, I wanted to see who everyone uses...I am doing a little research online right now and I kinda like the look of Nueces Co-op...right now we have TXU and I just can not see paying almost $40o a month with 3/4 of that paying for their gas...CRAZY!!:screwy
TIA!!
Breezy 04-10-2006, 06:11 PM Judy we have Gexa an I DO NOT recommend them!!! Their customer service sucks ass
Right now our bills range lowest being 188 I believe for the winter and over 400 in the summer.
But a perk that they do have is you get double Continential Airl miles :D and they are working on the customer Service BUT it still isn't good
I still have a charge that just popped up on this months bill that was from MAY :wow last year that I was told in Aug was taken care of :banghead
Needless to say I called them up and said I was not paying it yet again PERIOD
So good luck Judy I have heard that they all actually suck now lol
Mandi 04-10-2006, 06:19 PM Holy crap!!! Right now, we are with TXU and our payment for last month was 130! For both our electric and gas together we are paying like 225 a month. I would try and find a better rate if I wear you girl!!
I agree with ya Breezy, I have heard that all of the suck too!!
Debra 04-10-2006, 08:18 PM Jusy good luck getting Nueces Co-Op. There service is pretty spotty out here in San Pat Co....atleast that I what they told me when we tried to switch.
We have Reliant & the highest our bill has been so far is $138. We are also locked in with the rate we have for 2 years. We signed up with them in October before the rates went up. What helped for us is that a good friend of our's is a manager so he have us the best deal he could get us & he has the "power" to lock it in, etc.
Don't ever go with CP&L. They suck! Our's bills were always double what we pay with Reliant...at the minimum. Their customer service sucks & when we moved into our house, they just transfered the service over from the townhouse to here. I specifially told them to disconnect it at the townhouse & they didn't. So someone there got $300 in free electricity on us. CP&L refused to credit the amount because they said since we moved less than a mile away, they couldn't just disconnect it. That coming from a higher up supervisor! :rolleyes Avoid them like the plague!
Good luck!
JudyB 04-10-2006, 08:59 PM I saw another one called Green Mt. Energy....they seem like they have good thing going....anyone know anything about them?
Breezy 04-10-2006, 11:05 PM nope haven't heard a thing
good luck
I think it is a south TX thing cause most companies we have dealt with period SUCK here :lmao sorry still in a bad mood :giggle
judy you might want to check out commerce energy and the local company that we deal with is AEP or something like that and they do have budget plans too and they have fixed rates and i think we got a pretty decent rate when we got here in Dec. all of our bills have been under 200.00 and this is to cool/heat a 1600 sq ft house. so if you have less than that it might be cheaper.
charliesangel 04-11-2006, 08:38 AM We have Gexa, and have had no problems with them at all. Our bills range 100-160 but that is only for a 1000 sq ft apartment! Good luck to you!!
Breezy 04-11-2006, 08:38 AM Cat it will go up this summer trust me :P
Ours has been just under 200 this winter but my June/July until Nov it will be 400 or more our house is just under 1900sqft
and the kilowatt per hour has jumped 8cents since we got our HIGH bills so I don't know what the heck we will do this summer
Everybody has AEP cause they are the ones that actually OWNS the power boxes, lines etc... but the one who bills you just turns it on and meters it and charges you out your ass :D
Breezy 04-11-2006, 08:39 AM We have Gexa, and have had no problems with them at all. Our bills range 100-160 but that is only for a 1000 sq ft apartment! Good luck to you!!
Did you ever have problems talking to someone?
I have been on hold for over an hour before:wow
deewix 04-11-2006, 08:43 AM You guys are lucky if you can choose then. We only have CPS ( City Public Service)......not so bad during the winter months but June - September is a killer. Those are the peak months and our electric bill doubles. $300.00 plus those months.
Cat it will go up this summer trust me :P

well we have a fixed rate for a year from when we started so i dont think our rate will go up until after that 1 year.
Breezy 04-11-2006, 12:20 PM Cat your rate my not but the amount of power that you use will increase, and on the budget plan you still have to pay the difference in the long run. We did that in Va and they actually owed us money cause we left in may and ours was always higher there in the winter
Cat when it is 105+ you will have to keep your AC on just to keep the temp around 80 and it will run constantly, if you set it lower than that it will be on even more
Dee They say since we have choices is why it is so high here. before they opened it up everyone said that the rates were good and the bills were descent
JudyB 04-11-2006, 05:26 PM Well, our sq feet is only 1115....so what I am hearing, there may be something wrong with that!! We are going to contest this bill BIG time(especially considering what Amanda is paying)...the fact that I have to pay SO much for THEIR gas is just wrong...we don't use any gas and I don't feel that 3/4 of my bill goes to the gas that runs their turbines!! We are definatley changing...but we are gonna shop around too!! Thanks ladies!!
Breezy 04-11-2006, 09:34 PM so you also use gas Judy?
That is a crock
what are the dates if you don't mind and does it have your hook up fees etc...?
That made our fist kind of high
JudyB 04-11-2006, 10:18 PM Thats what is so stupid...we don't use gas...we are paying for the gas for the generators at the plant...atleast that is what TXU is telling Josh when he called. Oh, our bill is for 38 days and our connection fee was only $27...here is what it says:
monthly base charge............$6.84
1,140 kWh at $0.042641.........$48.61
871 kWh at $0.042641............$37.14
Fuel cost adj. at $0.115794 for 2,011.....$232.86
With tax and the svc connect it comes to $358.96
That is just freaking ridiculous!!!!KWIM....but we are gonna fight this big time...Josh is going to find out from one of the guys on his ship tomorrow what they are paying for their 3 bedroom here(same apts)...if it is much less then heads are gonna roll!!!
Breezy 04-11-2006, 10:42 PM I have never seen that on a bill Judy really wierd
Ours has wierd charges but it is $3 here $5 there
they upper our kilo from 9 something to 15 something so I was off on the 8 cents it was actually 6 cents I think
Good luck and I would throw a fit too.
I gotta call Gexa tomorrow, cause the sup who promised me on Friday that he would call by today didn't do it :reallymad
JudyB 04-11-2006, 10:45 PM Stupid Texas electricity!!!!LOL.....Hey, if we get anything good from that Green Mt one I will be sure to share!!!!
Breezy 04-11-2006, 11:02 PM please do :D
that is just so absurd Judy. makes ya wanna go back to VA to the uncomplicated Dominion Power doesnt it.
JudyB 04-12-2006, 08:27 AM that is just so absurd Judy. makes ya wanna go back to VA to the uncomplicated Dominion Power doesnt it.
True dat!!!:D ...give me Va Power any day!!!!:D
hey i think that gas part has to do with the apts. cause we just got a bill here just now for work and there is nothing said about gas on there. so you need to talk to the apt management about that.
JudyB 04-12-2006, 08:50 AM Well...we called the power company and they told Josh that it is for their(TXU) generators...but I will run it by the front office...I have got to get them to fix a few things anyways!!
yeah well i was looking at the bill here and no where on there did it say anything about gas. so i dont know why it would show that on yours.
JudyB 04-12-2006, 09:03 AM I'm not sure...but we are definatley going to investigate and fight this thing...it is just plain stupid!! Gonna call a few companies today and see what they offer...may just go with one that does not use deisel/gas turbines..that is just not environmentally safe!!
