View Full Version : Pillow Talk and New Posts
Brandi 01-07-2008, 01:19 PM I've been thinking about blocking Pillow Talk from the New Posts search button, in the same way that I've done with the Boxing Ring. Sometimes I think the post titles are a bit much, especially when Pillow Talk has an extremely busy day :lol
I have nothing at all against pillow talk or anyone who wants to post in there (that's why it's there, after all ) ). I just wonder if some of the thread titles might be a bit graphic for a site that isn't sexual in nature. KWIM?
Would anyone have a problem with having to go into the Pillow Talk forum to find posts, rather than having them come up in the new posts search?
I'll take a poll on it :D
Rileysmom 01-07-2008, 01:20 PM I vote to take it out! I can look past most things, but some of the titles can get really :quote descriptive :quote. :hehe
rosebud* 01-07-2008, 01:21 PM if i want to find the pillow talk posts I will go in there. I don't post much in there at all and sometimes I find that the titles are a bit too risque even for me :teehee
TallBlondie82 01-07-2008, 01:21 PM i agree...take it out...we can look for it on our own!
Rachael 01-07-2008, 01:21 PM take it out :tu

JustBreathe 01-07-2008, 01:23 PM It doesn't bother me, but then again I don't have kids sitting by me when I browse the sight. :dunno It really doesn't matter to me, I don't use the new posts search anyway :D
mrs_ski 01-07-2008, 01:23 PM I vote to take it out! I can look past most things, but some of the titles can get really :quote descriptive :quote. :hehe

NikkiD 01-07-2008, 01:25 PM Please take it out of new posts!
BLBnJVB3 01-07-2008, 01:26 PM I didn't vote cause I'm neutral. If I have to go to Pillow Talk instead of it being in New Posts I'm fine. No big deal. Actually, none at all for me. And if it stays the way it is that is fine, too. I'm no help whatsoever am I? LOL I can see where you are coming from though so if you feel better having it out of New Posts then I say go for it.
Brittany Rashel 01-07-2008, 01:33 PM It doesn't bother me, but then again I don't have kids sitting by me when I browse the sight. :dunno It really doesn't matter to me, I don't use the new posts search anyway :D
neither do I but since some people might then I agree that it should be taken out.
swrlygrl 01-07-2008, 01:39 PM go ahead I think it's fine

mrskmw 01-07-2008, 01:41 PM I vote to take it out! I can look past most things, but some of the titles can get really :quote descriptive :quote. :hehe
:agree I would rather go in there and look than to have to see it in new post. SOme of that stuff I just dont want to read about lol
Lckychrmzz 01-07-2008, 01:42 PM if i want to find the pillow talk posts I will go in there. I don't post much in there at all and sometimes I find that the titles are a bit too risque even for me :teehee
Ditto!
sunshyne 01-07-2008, 01:44 PM I would love for it to be off of the new posts!! :D
MelissaMc424 01-07-2008, 01:45 PM I say take it out. I'm not a fan of seeing graphic threads on the new posts list..

yup like a little too much info about someone ya know.
Victoria 01-07-2008, 01:46 PM It doesn't bother me, but I'm sure it's not great for those who surf the boards while at their place of work.

That's what I was thinking also, and I know some programs have the keyword things so if it picks up too many graphic keywords, it will autoblock a site. At least while people are at work or some place other than home, they can just avoid them by not going in there.
Bryanna 01-07-2008, 01:57 PM i said to leave it on new posts purely because it is easier for me.
i always forget to go check the boxing ring and then end up missing all the fun... i dont want that to happen with pillow talk either.
but of course... its not a big deal to me... i am sure i can teach myself to go check before i click new posts... even if i AM lazy and dont want to ;)

:yes I agree
MontanaSweetie 01-07-2008, 03:38 PM I think it should be taken out of the new posts.
harrisonsdream 01-07-2008, 03:40 PM i say leave it in but maybe sort of censor the topics like you do with venting (no cursing and such for the venting section).
Shaky 01-07-2008, 03:43 PM I would rather have it off the new post future.
goldilockz 01-07-2008, 03:44 PM I voted leave it in cause it doesn't bother me, but I'm really impartial. I can see how it might bother someone else :)
MIKOSWIFEY 01-07-2008, 03:55 PM Please take it out. There is nothing more embarassing than having my visiting grandma walk by and see
ANAL SEX!!! sitting there as I scroll past it.

my husband will lean over and read the titles and then be like "what the hell kind of forum are you posting on?"
petsparkle 01-07-2008, 03:58 PM I vote take it out.
MIKOSWIFEY 01-07-2008, 04:02 PM my husband will lean over and read the titles and then be like "what the hell kind of forum are you posting on?"
:rofl Yeah my husband wasn't too thrilled when he saw that, in combination with the Boxing Ring (I'd vacated my seat a minute to go get snacks :teehee ). He thinks I'm a perv now. :lol

Ya then I get "I hope you dont post in there" HELL NO!
Pebbles 01-07-2008, 04:13 PM Please do. Some of the titles that show up are *tmi* for me.
:thanks
Brandi 01-07-2008, 04:34 PM *poof* be gone.
It's been removed. Thanks for your input :D
sunshyne 01-07-2008, 04:36 PM Thank you Brandi, very much :tu
Rachael 01-07-2008, 04:36 PM :tu Thats awesome
MIKOSWIFEY 01-07-2008, 04:39 PM Thanks! :)
mrskmw 01-07-2008, 04:52 PM Thanks Brandi!!
OMG it's Andrea! 01-07-2008, 07:10 PM i vote to keep it in. maybe post a sticky that titles need to be friendly for general users, and that only one warning will be given before that person loses pillow talk privileges for a month or something.

:giggle like with the siggy guidelines and guidelines on not posting cuss words in titles of the venting section? People wouldn't follow the guidelines. Just makes more work for the moderators.

true. but i follow the guidelines. lots of people do. it's just the few who don't that ruin it for everyone else.

I do think this is a good idea in theory, but I also agree that it'd probably just end up being a lot more work for the staff. I constantly edit vent titles and signatures and such, which already takes quite a bit of time each day, I'm not sure that I could make time to also edit pillow talk titles. Eventually, I'm hoping after our upgrade is finished, that we'll have a feature to exclude forums from the new posts search on an individual basis, so that each person can pick and choose which to disable (without having to make it site wide). I hope this feature will be available, fingers crossed.
OMG it's Andrea! 01-07-2008, 07:46 PM i definitely give you :tu brandi. i realize that my "idea" is hard to put into practice. it's just frustrating that a few people can ruin it for so many. anyways, i think ya made the right decision since it would be so much work for you. and i will definitely keep my fingers crossed for that feature. :)
Kristen 01-07-2008, 08:05 PM I think this is a great idea. When I was at my mom's, I was worried about the titles in New Posts because her computer is in the kitchen, and I was worried about who would look over my shoulder and wonder what the heck I was looking at!
Thanks for taking care of it!
Whatever you decide is best. It doesn't bother me being in new posts, but I can see how it could bother others, and I can certainly bother to click the button to go to pillow talk to check on posts if need be.
MrsSTG 01-14-2008, 10:48 PM I just can't wait to get in there! :D
