Alot of airlines offer discounts to dependents. After calling a couple airlines several months ago, its no cheaper than purchasing the ticket with a web discount.

I've been doing a lot of research on airfare so I can be at my hubbie's grad date in Feb. and stay that weekend. ;)
Discounts really just aren't from what I'm finding. United and Southwest are the cheapest, I think. Try bookingbuddy.com, it's pretty kool.

usually any discount for military dependents (and also military for that matter) are taken off the highest price. Usually it's cheapest to just get the online price. I use Southwest if they fly to where I'm going. And if not, I go to expedia.com or one of those sites (expedia's phone support is HORRIBLY unhelpful by the way) and find the cheapest trip, then I check the website for whatever airline is the cheapest and buy my flight directly from that airline.
