I know a lot of you (BEX :mumble) don't use recipes, but if I could get a general idea from you that would be great

The way i like it best is.. a bunch of meat... LOTS of beans.. some chili powder and spices... and you are good to go.
and i like it THICK.. not watered down like SOUP.
i dont add anything extra like noodles or chunks of onion or anything.
ooh I HAVE THE RECIPE WRITTEN DOWN AT HOME ;)
actually - it's a picture LOL (j took a picture of his ingredients)
i jave a huggge pot of it at my house if you want some :) :sweetheart

I usually get a packet of seasoning, like 2-Alarm Chili (that's the actual brand), that comes with all the seasonings for it then I add the meat, a can of tomatoes, tomato sauce and Bush's chili beans. Then I add more chili powder and cumin to spice it up more.

I use the 2 alarm chili packet as well, add Bushs chili beans, red kidney beans, some tomato suace, but instead of adding tomatoes, I add salsa. It has your onions, japalenos, & everything else you would add. I don't have a true recipe I follow....

I just made chili last night!
My recipe:
This serves 8, I usually cut all the measurements in half when I'm cooking for just me and DH, and there's still enough leftover for both of us for lunch the next day...When I cut the measurments in half I also cut the cooking times in half.)
Heat 2 Tablespoons of oil in a large dutch oven or pot on medium heat until shimmering. Add 2 chopped onions, 1 chopped green bell pepper, 1/4 cup of chili powder, 1 tablespoon cumin, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Cook until veggies are softened, about 7 minutes. Stir in 6 chopped garlic cloves and cook for 15 seconds.
Add 2 lbs of ground beef and increase the heat to medium high. Cook, breaking up the pieces, until no longer pink, about 10 minutes. Stir in 2 15 oz cans of ranch style beans (I use the kind with jalepenos in them), 1 28 oz can of diced tomatoes, 1 28 0z can of tomatoe puree, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Bring to a simmer, (turn down low), cover, and cook for 45 minutes. Remove the lid, and continue to simmer for 45 more minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
I serve mine with cheese on top, sour cream, and corn bread. DH likes tobasco...ew. :lol
