Could you go a week without spending any money??? Not even a dime????? Not pay any bills - not buy any food - not buy gas - no quick soda at the quick shop.....

Ever since i started working and not having time to do much, we have been able to do so the last couple of weeks. DH does not spend money on lunch, so its not hard for us not to spend money on some weeks.

yup. it's pretty easy. When DH is gone I can go once a month, pretty much..except for milk, I have to pick taht up twice

I do it all the time. Not every week but often. I usually pay bills, buy groceries and other items, and put gas in the car on the weekends. I buy my lunches and drinks for work when I buy groceries. So and go to and from work most of the time without spending money.

Berkley

Yep

jen1982
01-11-2008, 10:44 AM
Yes, I sure can. I pay all of our bills on the first of the month. Then I only hit the grocery store, and gas station every other week. So, two weeks out of the month, I don't spend a dime. :D

We could if we would plan it that way. Like make sure we have enough groceries, gas in the cars, paid all due bills already, etc. But it doesn't happen. There is only 1 week out of the month that we don't have a bill due. Most are due right at the beginning. One is due right at the end and the rest right smack dab in the middle. But if I paid the one due late in the month early I might be able to not have to spend anything for 2 weeks. It is hard to tell though with Breanna in school. It was next to impossible with her in school and cheerleading at the same time.

I do it all the time.

My only weakness are yarn, bead and kitchen supply stores and I have not seen any of those here.

01-11-2008, 11:54 AM
Depending on the week (if it's without bills), yes I can. However, if it's a week full of due bills, then...nope! I'd like to keep my electricity and water on, thanks! :lol

Had to in the past when my ex left me penniless with no job or income with a baby.

I could... but DH unfortunately can't. He's the one that needs to be checked into shopaholics anonymous..lol. He is doing better, but it about kills him to go a week without spending any money... And of course whenever I do get him to stop spending long enough to save up money, he can come up with 101 ways to spend it..lol.

Yes. Between the gas that is in our three cars, Ryan could go to work. He is starting to take the train anwyays. I have enough food here to feed ten armies for a month, and we are set on clothes and all that. The cat food is running low, but I would spoil them with tuna fish. :lol (L)

I would have to grocery shop before hand but definitely yes. Actually most weeks, I don't spend any money. So, it really would not be a big deal or change other than just not paying the regular bills and grocery shopping. :dunno

That's why it's wise to always have a back up plan. ;)

No, I think it would be practically impossible. *I* don't have a problem with not spending any money because I work from home and rarely go out anywhere unless its needed, but my DH spends quite a bit on food & gas. Not to mention we usually have bills that are due each week, so I'd have to pay them in advance and go grocery shopping in advance as well in order to not spend any money for a week.

MelissaMc424
01-11-2008, 12:58 PM
Yep sure could, as long as before the fast starts, I've already gotten my groceries for the week ahead.

01-11-2008, 01:17 PM
I've had to do that before as well. Right out of high school, I refused to take money from my Dad and was broke as a joke.

Had to in the past when my ex left me penniless with no job or income with a baby.

Well, hopefully her father manned up and pays you decent child support now :no I would have been pissed if my daughter's father bailed when I had no job :vent

:giggle No.... It's about doing an exercise to see where you can cut your spending. Basically by not spending for a week, you can see what you REALLY need - not what you want. Hopefully curbing your frivolous spending in the future....

lisa0323
01-11-2008, 05:11 PM
I pay the bills on the first or the second pay day, so if the week wasn't during wither of those times I think I could do it.
If I was able to plan it in advance, say have the gas and groceries already done then I don't think it would be that hard.

Heather
01-11-2008, 08:51 PM
I normally do that, so yes I could go a week without spending money. I grocery shop, pay bills and get gas twice a month usually anything else is extra that I don't really need.

If I buy 5-7 gallons of milk then yes. If not then I have to go get milk.

Jennie
01-16-2008, 07:48 PM
I can, but Dh on the other hand would have issues.

Kara
01-16-2008, 08:56 PM
I don't have any bills that are due every week. As long as I had at least a half a tank of gas (which I always do, anyways) and some food, I definetly could

Twink
01-16-2008, 08:59 PM

01-25-2008, 06:06 PM
I don't. Me and DH both have this itch that makes us spend $$ on something every week. But we manage what we spend and it works for us.

We could if we wanted to, but why?? I'm much happier if I can at least buy a candy bar out of the blue!

Not me!!!!! We have too many bills! And with 2 toddlers there is always something I need, milk, diapers, tylenol, etc. I wish, so maybe when the army checks start coming in I can do better.

I could. Basically because I live with my parents and they pay for everything (not that I like that they do that but hey I am gonna live it up while I can and Save Save Save!!!)
