ok I'm getting that the suspect IS NOT A SUPERIOR OFFICER...that they had a relationship AFTER the rape complaint AND since she went missing.

SHE WALKED IN THE BUS STATION and bought a bus ticket. The bus ticket WAS NOT used...they WONT SAY OFFICIALLY how she was killed. The suspect is gone. They have a lead from someone unknown on Camp Lejune but they have tangible evidence of what has happened.

they got physical evidence from the witness that she is dead. :shrug don't ask they haven't disclosed what that evidence is. But basically a witness came to them with a story and some evidence that corroborated the story.

On Nancy Grace right now ... Detectives have found what "appeared to be burnt human remains."

On CNN.com ... Police believe they have found the remains of a missing Marine buried in the backyard of the primary suspect in the case, authorities said Friday evening.

"We think that we have found what would be the skeletal remains [of Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach]," Onslow County District Attorney Dewey Hudson told reporters.

While authorities will not know for sure until Saturday, "there are certainly some strong indicators that there are human remains" buried in the cavity, he said.

She either told him it was his or he figured it was his and that he had to do something before she left because the baby was proof that they were sexually involved. Well, it's very well possible that she wasn't "raped" and that he was having an affair with her.... one that would be confirmed with the birth of that child. Maybe she was just saying goodbye or maybe she was telling him that she was telling everyone when the baby was born? Yes, the story is odd but it's a love triangle apparently, at least it seems that way to me, and crimes of passion never make much sense.

Well I read on Yahoo that they found what appeared to be human remains in a fire pit in the back yard of the guys house. Not sure if the would be able to find the remains of an unborn baby.

They said that you could tell that they tried to clean it up and what they couldn't get off the walls someone painted over it. I have a bad feeling about the wife. At the end of the conference the sheriff said that this was going to end with a whole lot more to it than a murder and a burial that there was going to be some surprises. I can't even imagine what might come out in the next few days. They are processing the house tonight and will pull the body out tomorrow morning.

This is true but also look at her age...was her stepmom talking about in her "teenage years". What teenager do we know that hasn't lied when things were bad ect... I'm not at all saying that she wasn't a liar but I would just think that a mother would think twice before stating something like that while her daughter/stepdaughter was missing.

I dunno, but I would rather hear about body than bodies. Hearing about a burned and buried adult is a little easier to stomach than hearing about a burned and buried baby/fetus

They said that you could tell that they tried to clean it up and what they couldn't get off the walls someone painted over it. I have a bad feeling about the wife. At the end of the conference the sheriff said that this was going to end with a whole lot more to it than a murder and a burial that there was going to be some surprises. I can't even imagine what might come out in the next few days. They are processing the house tonight and will pull the body out tomorrow morning.

This is true but also look at her age...was her stepmom talking about in her "teenage years". What teenager do we know that hasn't lied when things were bad ect... I'm not at all saying that she wasn't a liar but I would just think that a mother would think twice before stating something like that while her daughter/stepdaughter was missing.

well I didnt say the woman didnt lack tact, or respect, or is a downright bitch....I just mean that we cant automatically assume that this girl was perfect just because of the circumstances.

So I read an update from the Associated Press. It said the wife found a note from Laurean this morning (after he left) saying Lauterbach slit her own throat (?!?!?!) .. hence why the wife just found out...
And Lauterbach's uncle said she did not have a relationship with Laurean and she had to live off-base because she was being harassed...

This case is going to be all sorts of messed up by the time all the facts come out.

I think the wife may have been in on this. I think the uncle is probably a little clueless...if the girl was being harrassed...then WHY was she seeking this guy out?

Yeah, I know my uncles dont know jack about my life at all.

And I don't buy it either.
A. why would you slit your throat to kill yourself?
B. if it happened, why would you then burn that body and BURY it?!
