View Full Version : Not sure if it is a "celebration" but it's definitely a GREAT thing!

DH and I had been having some issues since he returned home, and even from before he left. We just hit our 2 years of marriage mark a few days ago and let me tell you, it has NOT been easy!

Last night we had a long discussion about everything and how we could improve ourselves and our relationship and it was incredible. We are finally learning how to communicate, how to argue effectively, how to increase positives and decrease negatives, how to listen, bring up issues when they arise instead of piling them up, spending time with each other, softening our approach to serious issues, learning how the other perceives things and working on fixing our comments so they are perceived well, etc.

It was a great talk and I can already see improvements. Even just seeing that there is effort being made is making me so much happier in our marriage already.

I've been taking a marital therapy course in the past 2 weeks between semesters and it definitely helped me realize what needs to be addressed and HOW to address it. Amazing, amazing, amazing.

I just want to say to anyone who's marriage or relationship is on the rocks, DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T LOSE HOPE! DON'T GET CAUGHT IN A RUT!!!

ok. End of ramble. I'm just extremely happy right now :D :wub

thats totally a celebration! CONGRATS!!!!!!
Through our deployment DH and I have learned how to argue so we each know what the other is saying and we understand where one another is coming from. Our little tiffs never get out of control now and end up posotive...its a life saver (-8

As the ladies before me said, that so is a celebration! The fact that you two talked so openly and decided to make changes together is absolutely wonderful! Keep beaming today :)

That is great news and something to celebrate! I think everyone could benifit from some sort of marriage counseling from time to time at the least. Relationships are work and can be very hard at times..

That's great! Communication is definitely something to improve (if needed) before you add a baby to the mix! I'm glad it went well for you guys!

Exactly! I'm so glad we got this done and discussed this before I get my belly bean...it probably would have been much harder if I had been hormonal!
