nope, plus this was in london so their rules are completely different then the US, but I do know I didn't have to get a blood test to get married. and a blood test isn't a DNA test so you can't tell if you are related because of a blood test.

That story fascinates me. Of all the billions of people in the world, they found one another. Strange.

That's so crazy! It shows how close siblings are that they would find each other again and have a bond (albeit not the kind of bond they normally would... :nutts )

Not all states require it and they just test for STD's not DNA.

The funniest part about it is that they say this technology is to assist gay and lesbian couples to have children, but then they are worried about this:

potentially meaning a child could not be told they were conceived by assisted reproduction.

Um, by the time you are old enough to get married you should be able to deduce this fact if your parents are gay... right? Wouldn't you already be aware that your parents used some form of assisted reproduction even if they didn't actually tell you? ROFL!

I think this is really sad for that couple... but at the same time TONS of people put their kids up for adoption and this has never happened before (that we are aware of) so I think that shows it is really unlikely. It's kind of annoying that they are using it as a ploy to say stem cell research is bad. Because by that reasoning adoption is also bad.

Poor twins. Must be very hard emotionally.

But, I think the case is not applicable to what that article / Lord is trying to make it apply to. Very different situations.

How would they know prior to the honeymoon? I am guessing they might of had a hard time getting pregnant and had genetic testing done and found out that way.

The odds of it happening are actually increasing. This is 1 thing I really had to think about. With all the sperm donors, egg donors, adoption etc it is a real possibility. I want tod onate my eggs but I have to consider the fact that there IS a possibility that Ethan or Ashley could meet and fall in love with the child from my donation. In alot of cases they'd have no idea.

It is a very sad situation and how heartbreaking to find out your spouse, the one you are in love with, is a sibling and that love is now wrong. I feel for that couple/brother and sister.

Mass tests to make sure you're not related (That's how my cousines who already had a son found out they were related). I wasn't married there but that's where most of my family was married. I didn't have to do any blood tests in Virginia.

That's really sad :( I'd be so devestated to find something out like that.

NY didn't require any blood test either.

When I got married in 1994 here in CA they didnt require a blood test if you had lived wit the person longer then 1 month.

See, I don't know if I could divorce Aron if he was my twin. I know that sounds sick and incestual, but I love him with all of my heart. He's my best friend in the world, my confidante, and my true soul mate. I don't think I could willingly live without the man I chose to love for eternity.

We just wouldn't have kids.

And that's why in many places in the US you have to have a blood test before you get the marriage license...
