CocoaGoddess 01-11-2008, 05:46 PM The grand invasion, I guess. :-)
I stumbled upon this site when we got the (disheartening) news that my husband would be getting his orders to San Diego in March, with us leaving Maryland in late May/early June. Despite growing up in California, I know next to nothing about San Diego, except Miguel's Concina located in Coronado (fabulous white sauce, by the way).
So anyway, I've been lurking for about a week, mostly on the Southwestern boards, trying to soak up as much information about San Diego as I possibly can.
I'm Eb, by the way. Nice to see/meet you all. Thanks for the support and information you've given me, even if you don't know it yet.
goldenageskye 01-11-2008, 05:48 PM well, San Diego has sea world, and legoland..

Yeah, I've done some "visiting" in San Diego. Last year my husband and I took a small vacation in Coronado, and I fell in love with the place. And of course, most So. Californians have been to the beach, Sea World, etc. I didn't "intimately" know about San Diego and it's various cities, neighborhoods, school districts, etc., and military life was even more foreign to me.
But I'm learning lots, thanks to this board. :tu

MelissaMc424 01-12-2008, 02:06 PM Welcome.. San Diego's not my favorite place, but there are much worse places to be stuck. Will you be looking into military housing?? There are tons of things to do.. Balboa park is beautiful, there's an awesome zoo, Sea World, Legoland, Tons of great shopping, there are malls everywhere, and a couple nice outlets within a few mins. drive. There are also casinos if you're into that type of thing.
We live in Eastlake (East Chula Vista) and there's a Miguel's near us too.. we love going there.. and you're white, the white sauce is AWESOME!

Wow, there's more than one Miguel's? That is good to know. Of course, there's something so intimate and almost romantic about the Miguel's in Coronado. DH and I have been twice on two separate trips, and we like to think of it as our special place. Ah well. :)
Living in housing would be darn near impossible for us, I think. I checked the waiting list, and the Coronado housing is unavailable, and the other sites have a wait time of 1 to 2 years. I only want to move once, so whatever place we find, that's it.
pbjtime 01-12-2008, 05:00 PM Welcome to SOS, and I hope you enjoy SD!!

I am looking to move to San Diego in the next year to two years, we shall see. From what I have been told San Diego is a great place but I have found a lot of women on here that are in San Diego right now with their SO's so you will find women on here to give you a better view then I can. But if you ever need to talk send me a msg!
