Dh told me that there was supposedly a new ship being built over in SD possibly ready in Aug. - Sept. 08 so he's trying to get stationed over there....anyone know anymore about it....???

There are lots of pre-com ships right now. I know Kat's husband is stationed at one... DH's on shore, so I don't have any detailed info, but it would be cool if ya ended up out here.

Here in Maine they are making a navy ship! A town down from me

Not true. Dh's ship is being built in Mississippi right now and its an LHD. Brandi's dh is going to ship that is being built and its a LPD I believe. And I know dh's ship is going to be stationed in San Diego (hense the reason we are here) and I THINK Brandi's dh's ship will be here as well when its done.
There may be more being built, but those two I know for sure are.

:giggle Yeah. Dh wanted the New Orleans (built there, coming here- well, it's here now) but he did a split tour so they wouldn't give him orders to a pre-com. But yeah, he said the ones actually being built here are oilers.

My hubby is "technically" on the same ship as Kats. Its being built out of MS and then will be here in SD permentaly once completed. I say "technically" cuz he is currently TAD deployed with another ship :(

It is being built in Virginia not SD.

I didn't know they built ships here in SD.

I know the Freedom is being built in WI and a few others in LA. Some families are here and some are where the ship is being built.

i thought they were always in the process with new ships. i don't really know though, but if that's what you want i hope you get it.. that would be cool being on a brand new ship

I am not sure which is being built but I know there have been a lot of contracts lately.
