The Houston mother who faces charges for leaving her five children home alone while she went to Africa to marry a man she met online, called CPS Friday.
Through tears, Shanell Monique Mosley told a caseworker she made a terrible mistake, but thought she had arranged for the kids to be cared for while she was gone.
She said she never intended to abandon the kids, the youngest of which is 1-year-old, the oldest is 15.
She said she'll fly back to Houston as soon as possible and hopes to win back custody of her children.
Still, Mosley faces criminal charges once she returns to Houston. Her children are in CPS custody, but are being cared for at four different homes.
Incidentally, CPS said the woman did not get married after all.

How stupid do you have to be to "think" you've arranged care for your children??? :duh I could care less what she does with her life, as long as her children are cared for.. that's the big issue..

well, if you agree with someone that they're going to watch your kids; it'd be nice to make sure they show up at your house before you leave. But that isn't that hard of a situation to see happening. It happened to my mom once. Her and my dad had a trip to go on and the lady was supposed to be at our house when we got out of school. She was late. We just borrowed a phone and called some friends of the family and chilled with them. We left her a note on the door and she came and got us. My parents weren't happy with her though.
I don't know about yall but if I have kids and get married, I'd want them there to see that. That's just me though.

She had a 1 year old that is a far cry from having someone meet her kids after school.

Hmmm...how can you just "think" you have care set up for your kids?? Either you do or you don't
The way I see it, if you have plans to leave the country you will have someone either at your house or your kids at someone elses house WELL before you get on that plane.
100% unnacceptable :no

I totally agree. I mean in the OFF chance someone was supposed to show up at her house and get the youngest from Daycare. Wouldn't that person need to come to the house first to get the key get money for food go over the rules etc. etc.

Exactly. I know that I would never leave for a trip....in CONUS or OCONUS without that person being at my house BEFORE I left. This is neglect plain and simple :yes
