Like we couldn't see THIS (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080112/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_mideast;_ylt=AgzWE4ZmnL.eS43jZFRPr6Ss0NUE) happening.

Have they ever really cutback on the troops?

The greatest crisis in America today is the fact that the American people are no longer being represented by their government.

It sounds like preparation if u ask me. I mean, with the current successes over there right now and the current troop cuts, people are getting all excited about a draw down.

I think he's just saying that that may not be the case, and preparing people for the fact that it MAY NOT happen as fast as we are all hoping for.

but then, I dont hate Bush as much as some people do, so....:dunno

Oh, me neither - I have voted for him in every election he's ever been in. I was just a little surprised to see him vocalise what has certainly been on everybody's mind. The cutbacks so far seem, to me at least, to be an effort to calm the near riot in Congress about the war. I think we'll be there for a long time.

I'm not surprised, but I didn't think they would even begin draw down to begin with anyway.

is he referring to the surge? i remember saying they were going to withdraw the extra troops after a year...

can't say i'm particularly surprised.

they've had troops coming home since December...and they're still cycling out, and will continue to cycle out for a few more months....ultimately slowing down and/or stopping when troop levels are BACK to about 130,000...

People are hoping that cut backs will continue at the same pace as they are now....Bush is saying that MAY NOT happen.

this article is referring to FURTHER cut backs.

Not too surprising, actually. :(
I'm just glad the additional tropps sent out from the surge are coming back home slowly.
Further cutbacks would be really nice, though :)
