I just went out and bought a crockpot. I have never used one of these things before in my life. So I was wondering a few things.
First, how should I clean this thing?
Second, I was wanting some bbq chicken tonight, any good recipes? how long will this take to cook?
Third, how do I know what temperature to use? Any special tips I would need to know?

Thanx a bunch!

BBQ chicken is yum
my recipe...is a couple pounds of boneless skinless breasts and a bottle of BBQ sauce...I just throw in the sauce, then the chicken, then add more sauce on top...put the lid on and cook. I stir it every few hours.

and I just throw mine in the dishwasher or use a liner and wipe it down

Both of mine have removable crocks that can go in the dishwasher.. that makes cleanup super easy. I use mine a lot for pinto beans, but have made pot roast and chicken in it before too.

BBQ chicken sounds good.. there's a recipe here on the board that calls for a whole chicken cut up, put in with a homemade BBQ sauce.. I might make that one day this week..

I think the liners are on the same aisle with the foil..

All depends on the recipe, some can be done in 3-4 hrs. on high, or 6-8 hrs on low... it's designed to be a convienence thing.. I put things in there in the AM, and it's ready at dinner time.. I LOVE my crockpot..lol

Mine has the removable crock as well... so I usually just soak it in hot water and soap and then hand wash it.

I got a crock pot cookbook that has like a dozen and a half recipes in it and use those. It's awesome! With BBQ chicken, I usually do about the same as Jennifer said.

I do my BBQ chicken on low for 6 hrs or more to get it shreddable..I like it falling apart. I usually kick it to high about an hour before we want to eat to get it super soft.
