Does it affect ones credit score?

It really shouldn't. I have had two cars with negative equity in the past, and it's never made a difference in my scores.

It affects it, but only because when you trade in a car with negative equity, your new loan will be higher, so you will just have more debt. But as far as the negative equity itself, it should never show up
