Ladies, I'm starting to think about homecoming and all that jazz. And I'm wondering do you generally go to welcome them when they land? (If they're flying in for instance?)
Have you ever not been able to go and meet them? How important do you think it is to be there when they arrive?
Do you have any positive or negative stories to share about this?

Well with us, they land at the airfield and you can't meet them there. They are taken on buses to the parade field and they have about a 10 minute ceremony and are released.

same here...they land @ the airfield then you have to sit through an agonizing ceremony @ the Sports Center and then they FINALLY release them to family!....I know I'm going to be going crazy when I see DB standing there in front of me and knowing that I have to wait to run into his arms....agh:sigh

I always go to meet his plane (when allowed). I think it's very important and so does he. He always wants us there when he gets off the plane. Even if it's just a short time and his drove himself so we'll be taking 2 cars home-he still wants us there.
I really want to be able to go and meet him, but I'm worried that with the whole unpredictable military thing I won't be able to get leave and get organized - he'll land in a different state and all.

I was late when he came home for R&R and to this day i feel awful about it.
He was standing outside when I got there

I have never been through before but I definitely get the idea that he wants me there. I have forewarned both my department supervisor and Director approximately his return date. Did the same thing when he left, they allowed me to fill in a generic vacation request for the approx time we thought he might leave. As soon as I knew the exact date I told both of them and made adjustment to the vacation form. Maybe your supervisors will give you that kinda of flexibility if you let them know what is going on.
