i ended things today. i feel awful im miserable, but i just need to be by myself and figure out what i want for once. i must be the scum of the earth to break up with him when he's over there. but i just couldnt do it anymore. i tried. i care for him so much as a friend but i cant be the girlfriend right now. and he hates me. i guess he has a right to. but he said hes gonna cut me off forever. i dont want that. but i also think he is saying that to get me to change my mind and thats not right. im sad. i will keep praying for him everyday and hope some day he can accept my friendship

I think you did the right thing. I always say that you don't have to do anything you don't want to do. If you know in you're heart that you couldn't be the girlfriend anymore than I respect you for that. At least you were honest and told him. Hopefully one day he will understand that. Time will only tell.

And what he is saying now isn't the truth, it is his hurt and pain. Send him letters every once in awhile, and make sure he knows you aren't with anyone else.

I think it's better to let him know it's not working than lead him on while he's gone. I know it's tough to do, but I'm sure he'll come around eventually, it might take time. It's always hard to maintain a friendship right away.
