View Full Version : Last night was the WORST for Ethan
Kaymara 01-22-2008, 09:13 AM I think daddy being gone has finally REALLY hit Ethan. He cried himself to sleep :sadeyes
I was in his room, we read, he read back to me all normal. Then I laid down with him so we could cuddle and he just burst into tears and cried. I kept asking him whats wrong and he kept saying I love you mommy. Please stay. I was like I am not going anywhere and he said "my daddy" and burst into tears saying he loved and missed him :no It broke my HEART.
Please keep your fingers crossed that I can go home same day from the hospital after my surgery. If I have to stay I dunno how thats gonna affect him :(
HeatherNichole 01-22-2008, 09:16 AM aww...how sad!!! I will keep you in my prayers that you can come home right after surgery!!! If not have whoever he is staying with during surgery bring him up to see you...maybe he could even stay?
Elizabeth 01-22-2008, 09:20 AM Oh, I'm so sorry, that poor lil guy! That is one thing I'm so scared about when it comes to having kids. All of you moms are so strong!
Taressa 01-22-2008, 10:13 AM ah that stinks my 6 year old does that from time to time, just has a really hard time with daddy gone now. i spray his bed with my DH's cologne and his stuffed Bear, DH tries to send pictures to them often but he is slacking lately. have DH write him a letter just to him. that helps my boys a lot. or he sends a post card of his last port. my boys love that. and i have an Ethan too he is 10 now and dealing ok but there are days oh that boy. he still has his moments when he breaks down and just bawls himself to sleep they need those and to know its ok to be sad. i hope tonight is a better night for you guys.
Heather 01-22-2008, 10:25 AM Oh that just breaks my heart and I only read it. Deployment is so hard on the little ones.
airmanssweetie 01-22-2008, 11:38 AM :o( that is so sad :o( I hope you can go home right after your surgery.
JKirstiH 01-22-2008, 11:40 AM oh..I started to cry:( If you need any help I am jobless at the moment.
Miss B Hav'n 01-22-2008, 11:47 AM Poor little guy - LOTS of good thoughts and prayers for him and for you (I know all to well how hard it is to see them hurting like that). I hope that your procedure goes well enough for you to go home the same day.
~*~Katie~*~ 01-22-2008, 11:48 AM oh my gosh that is so sad :tears I am bawling right now. I Hope you find something to keep him occupied and help him from missing daddy :( :hugehug
Kaymara 01-22-2008, 12:29 PM oh..I started to cry:( If you need any help I am jobless at the moment.
Well you should come have coffee here 1 day :D
Kaymara 01-22-2008, 12:30 PM Thanks all. Rod is supposed to call today so hopefully him talking to him will help a little. Its hard because he is only 3 so his understanding is minimal. He knows daddy is gone but understanding WHY isnt gonna happen.
RunAwayLove 01-22-2008, 12:35 PM aww poor guy my dad was deployed when i was that age and i had no clue what was going on but something that helped we used to videotape stuff and send it to dad and my mom says (im asking her about it now:P) that it helped me understand that he was gone but that hes coming back :)
Pebbles 01-22-2008, 12:38 PM Poor guy :tears
MontanaSweetie 01-22-2008, 12:40 PM Oh my goodness sweetie, that is so heartbreaking!! My son had moments like that during DH's last deployment. Hopefully he will be able to talk to Rod fairly often, and have Rod send him little gifts (if that is possible).
Lots of :hugs to you both!
Kaymara 01-22-2008, 01:44 PM I do make Rod videos and we send em. Mail is SO SLOW on that ship tho. I have sent 5 care packages and 6 cards and he has recieved 1 card and 1 package. They have only had mail once in the last almost 2 months. So it'd be hard for Rod to send something home.
It was sad and I can only hope tonight is better. It was all I could do to not bust out into tears when he kept asking me to stay :( Poor thing
mrs_ski 01-22-2008, 01:46 PM Aw. Bless his heart!! I will keep you in my prayers!! I hope everything goes well
disneylovinfamil 01-22-2008, 01:47 PM sending hugs to Ethan. I am dealing with this same thing with Roseanna right now so if you need to talk, shoot me a pm. :hugs

Ugh, well poo on them for having such slow mail, that really sucks! Conner still on occasion tells DH that he's not allowed to leave, and he's been out of the military for almost a year now. Conner still remembers the deployment and I know he still has alot of emotions about it.
Corenn 01-22-2008, 01:59 PM Oh that made me all teary eyed..poor baby I hope things start to get better for him!!
Kaymara 01-22-2008, 03:14 PM Well talking to him didnt help liked I thought I would. He started shaking and then had tears streaming down his face while talking to him :sigh
Heather 01-22-2008, 05:15 PM Awww that is just so sad. Does his ship do united through reading? I've heard its great. Johns ship did it but he could never get an appointment.

YEah but apparently they read a book, it gets recorded and then he sends the book home and Ethan gets recorded watching it or some such. And with mail as slow as it is I dunno how good that'd be. So I sent him some books and he will read em and send the vid to me via email
Proud_MPWIFE 01-23-2008, 09:50 AM I have so many nights like these with my 4 kids... its always so heartbreaking, because there isnt much you can do but be there for them and love them.
Im sorry you have to experiance that.. its gut wrenching:unlove
Big HUGS to you!
