View Full Version : When you buy sheets and comforters..
kiwijus 01-23-2008, 03:44 PM do the words "Thread" and "count" mean anything to you? :P
DH and I are such bedroom snobs, we bought a comforter with 400 thread count, and now we won't have anything else. It was expensive, but I love it SO much!!
Anyone else a threadcount hoor?
*MarineBug420* 01-23-2008, 03:46 PM um I am. Ours are all 800 and above but when they get to high of a count I actually dont like the way they feel. I actually think they feel dirty
settles 01-23-2008, 03:47 PM our sheets are 1000 count :giggle
we actually got them at a pretty good price too!! (like half off)
we are bed room snobs too :lmao
thelinks99 01-23-2008, 03:52 PM I forget how many TC my current ones are, but they feel "Oh So Good"!!!
OMG it's Andrea! 01-23-2008, 03:53 PM oh i have totally become a bedroom snob! i didn't use to bed. but i sooo am now!
my sheets now are 400 tc. i love them. they're chocolate brown and sateen cotton and heavenly.
Navgirl 01-23-2008, 05:26 PM Oh yeah, I look at the thread count. I get some pretty good deals on Overstock.com on higher thread counts.
sunshyne 01-23-2008, 05:28 PM One of our sets that I love is....I think 400 and the other one that is my favorite is 800 and I love them!! I can't stand using any of the other sheets now :lol
Valkyrie 01-23-2008, 05:28 PM Same here, 450 thread count chocolate brown sheets, but the kids prefer jersey sheets.
rosebud* 01-23-2008, 05:29 PM :yes I am a snob. I have learned that with the higher count sheets it takes that much longer to get them soft.
jen1982 01-23-2008, 05:29 PM I have two sets that I rotate. One is a 1000 count set, and the other is 400. I actually like the 400's better. But, it's probably because I like the design. lol.
Kristen 01-23-2008, 05:40 PM I look, but I let feel guide me more than anything. I have some super expensive ones I love, and some super cheap ones I love too. It really depends on what they are made out of I think.
Rain. 01-23-2008, 05:42 PM I hate sheets so Im not a thread count whore. I may be tho if I bought nice sheets and saw what the fuss was about.
froglove 01-23-2008, 05:44 PM :yes I wont buy anything under a 300TC. I just got 1000 sheet set for 40 bucks off ebay earlier today. CANT WAIT!
Aleve 01-23-2008, 05:47 PM I don't look at the thread count. I buy only the T-Shirt Jersey sheets. I won't buy anything else. Yep Yep. That's right.. Hardcore redneck here... Wurd.
Kinda sad that I work part time at Linens and Things.. Isn't it?
USCGBoxerMom 01-23-2008, 06:15 PM DH and I are TC whores...so are our kids. They "itch" if they have cheap sheets. And I LOVE the feeling of good cotton high thread count sheets at night.
Jenabugg 01-23-2008, 06:17 PM I worked at Linens and Things for 3 years and I am now a bedroom snob!! Only the best for me and my sleep :) hehe
Berkley 01-23-2008, 06:18 PM 400 and up. But if you go to high then it has that Sateen feel to it and BLECH I can't stand that
Ashnbri 01-23-2008, 08:28 PM :yes only because I break out when the thread count is low and it is cheaply made :sigh.
*Samantha* 01-23-2008, 08:29 PM Oh me and my DH love higher threadcount numbers...but we just can't afford them :(
D......... 01-23-2008, 08:59 PM Oh I will be!!!!! No less than 400!!!!! In Germany we don't do TC but I might have just never heard of it!
Purplekittie 01-23-2008, 09:00 PM i dont really care. ive never payed attention :shrug
piggypunkinetta 01-23-2008, 09:04 PM I just bought 600 thread count sheets today. I am happy with anything over 400.
mrs_ski 01-23-2008, 09:07 PM I'm spoiled. I only like 800+ thread count, any lower and it feels like sandpaper
goldilockz 01-23-2008, 09:19 PM I used to be all "OMG threadcount doesn't matter :blahblah"
Then I got some REALLY LOW threadcount sheets.... yeahhhhhhh threadcount matters to me now :lmao
fridaynightgirl 01-23-2008, 09:23 PM SOFT SHEETS are the best. I buy the highest threadcount I can afford at the time. Good sheets are worth the investment. Who's up for sleeping in a paper sack? *giggle*
Casadorra 01-23-2008, 09:27 PM yup we dont buy anything under 400
Shaky 01-23-2008, 09:29 PM We have some 400 some 800 and some 250 :lol
~*~Katie~*~ 01-23-2008, 09:32 PM nope not normally lol
wb3690 01-23-2008, 09:37 PM honestly no. I'm not a fan of anything above 400......I think they feel weird. they make me hot........
comforters I will invest alot of money in, but not sheets.......I buy new sheets frequently.
Jessica_Marie 01-24-2008, 07:23 AM yes it does! The higher the better. Speaking of sheets I gotta get some new ones.
Jennifer 01-24-2008, 07:34 AM if we can afford it, I will. I have a pair of 350 TC sheets on my bed right now and they are super soft. I just can't justify spending over 100 bucks on a pair of sheets(we have a king sized EXTRA deep mattress)
Traci 01-24-2008, 07:43 AM I don't pay attention but this one I just got my Aunt gave me thread count 101 so now I do.:lol
Erika 01-24-2008, 07:48 AM I've never had sheets lower than 250 and I deal with those. I actually prefer the jersey knit sheets too. :dunno
Brandi 01-24-2008, 09:25 AM I don't look at the thread count. I buy only the T-Shirt Jersey sheets. I won't buy anything else. Yep Yep. That's right.. Hardcore redneck here... Wurd.
Kinda sad that I work part time at Linens and Things.. Isn't it?
I used to be soooooo into the Jersey knit also but then I discovered the 400TC sheets and now that's what I use. I don't think I've ever used anything higher than 400 but I won't buy anything lower than that now either.
gunsgirl 01-24-2008, 09:37 AM what ???? your only a 400 TC sista???? holy shit girl wait till you sleep on the 600 TC!
DH is the one that is hooked- he says it is like sleeping on silk-- little does he know that IT is almost silk!! Don't get me wrong I love it too, but I could onnly afford to buy 1 set and I have one 400 - hopefully with tax refund I can get another set.
AG2Wife 01-24-2008, 10:03 AM I'm a snob, I guess. It HAS to be 1000 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton. I've tried going lower but I feel like I stick to the bed at night
Lckychrmzz 01-24-2008, 10:14 AM We're snobish! We will only buy 1000TC or higher. Our comforter is 450 TC b/c at the time we wouldnt find anything higher.
Shannon* 01-24-2008, 10:16 AM 250 may as well say "sand paper" to me these days. I'm turning into a threadcount snob too.
VinnysGirl 01-24-2008, 10:18 AM We have a set of 600 and a set of 800. I like them both! Different colors!!!
LoveMyHalos 01-24-2008, 01:17 PM I want nice sheets soooo bad! They're on my wedding registry, but I always check out Overstock.
Heather 01-24-2008, 04:11 PM I have a set of 450 and 550. I love them both. I'll never buy the cheap sheets again
Victoria 01-24-2008, 04:13 PM It doesn't matter to me. :dunno But prices DO matter! :D
