While DH is deployed my parents offered for me to move back in so we could save some money...I love my parents :D Anyways I brought maya with me of course. Every night when we all go to bed she runs and gets in my parents bed. Then I have to get her to come in my room in my bed and its not an easy task...she is huge lol. She sleeps in my bed with me every night and I know it sounds kinda stupid but it sorta hurts my feelings that she never runs to my room ro get into bed and then getting her into my room is a struggle. Once she is in my room its no big deal and she gets right in bed but I dont know why she does this.

I don't know why she does it but if you put a jar of dog biscuits on your night stand and make a habit of giving her one at bedtime - I bet you will solve your problem. :D

I've actually been asked this question at work before. Dog's are pack animals by nature and very smart. You're dog knows that it will be the two of you in your bed and knows the smell of your parents and that they sleep in another room. This is a rebellion to try to get everyone to sleep together in one bed. Its ridiculous sounding I know but some dogs have the instinct to want to herd everyone together at bed time and sleep as a pack for protection. So don't be offended by the actions she just wants to have a big sleep over that's all.

oh my gosh so true. we had a sheep dog, australian shepherd, and she would get so nervous and run back and forth when we weren't all in the same room. we went to the ocean once when my brother and i were pretty young, and she kept barking at the waves and trying to get my brother and i to stay on the blanket with her and my mom.

She probably thinks it's a game. My dog runs around like a nut before bed time. I feel I am wrangling a greased pig.

My dog LOVES when daddy is gone, she takes HIS pillow and ends up all sprawled out; she is a 12lbs dog but suddenly its like sleeping with a great dane. Its his freaking cat that has a cow when he leaves. :arg The previous replies were great as to why your pup does this and I think the dog biscuit idea is a good one. Its worth a try!! Good luck!
