How do you feel about parents who "enable" pedophiles (for example, they know sexual abuse is going on but dont do anything)? If you were a parent and you found out that your boyfriend/lover/spouse was sexually abusing your child, what would you do?

The pedophile should be buried, and the enabler should be someone's prison bitch.

Those that know and do nothing should be charged as an accessory to the crime and for allowing it to continue after finding out.

If I found out that someone was doing that within my family? I would be on the phone in a sec to call the cops, my locks would be changed and I would be getting a restraining order on top of whatever warrant the police issue.

I have to say that if they know the abuse is going on and they do nothing, they are as guilty as the abuser. Even in a situation where they are being abused. It's a hard thing because often the one being abused is as sick as the one abusing but past experience has created this opinion.

I pretty much agree with everything stated above. An enabler is in some ways worse that the person committing the abuse, because they are the person the child should be able to trust, and find out in the cruelest of ways that they can't. Definitely punish them to the extent of the law...and then some!!!

I agree. Telling the child that it is their fault is almost worse that committing the act its self.

My Grandmother is just as guilty as my Step-Grandfather for what he did to my Mom and me. They should BOTH be put away, as well as any aunts and uncles of my Mom's that knew what was going on. Sick f***s

If I had children and found out anyone was abusing them, I wouldnt worry about jail or punishment, I'd have kill them, bottom line, it would be a wrap

if you are willingly helping or allowing a pedophile to hurt children, you should be punished just as severly as them... it's the same as if you are sitting in a car while your buddy goes in a shoots up the store, is it not ... or even worse since it's dealing with children

I think they should be humilited and treated just like the pedophile. I get so angry when I hear stories and this is the case. Children don't have anyone to protect them except their parents. If their parent is allowing abuse, they should be persecuted and punished to the full extent. The child molester/rapist should be at the mercy of the parent(s) or other loved ones of the victim.

There are alot of crimes that I can understand some logic or reasoning behind them, but child abuse (sexual or physical) is NOT one of them. I think someone who does this doesn't deserve to live, and if anything EVER happened to my little girl, there would be HELL to pay.

If I found out my SO was doing bad things to my girls: I'd call 911 to report a murder then go kill his ass. No one touches my kids.

As for an enabler: they need to get punished. They are an accessory to the crime and need to be punished just as bad as the main offender.

If they are letting it happen then I think they deserve as much punishment as the sick bastard actually abusing the child.

I think they should be charged as well. Not sure to what degree. All situations vary, so that needs to be taken into account.

If it were to happen to my daughter in my own home I would be out of there that moment and call the cops on the way out. I would not be willing to sit around and wait for excuses. If it were to happen outside of my home I would be on the phone to call the cops ASAP as well and she would never again go over to that house or wherever else it happened.
