I flew to Europe and N. Africa at the end of my first trimester with no problems at all.

I think, unless your doctor tells you otherwise, or you are labeled high-risk or have some kind of pre-existing condition, you're safe until the end of your second trimester.

I'm kinda new to think but when does the 3rd trimester start?

4 flights is a lot....you need plenty of time to rest and stretch your legs...getting on and off planes in such a short time wouldn't be good I would think

Just make sure you double check with your doc and you should be fine flying :hugs

I was about 7 months preggo with ds when I flew. It was about an hour or just a bit longer flight. My feet got extra swollen, but that's about it. I wore flilp flops, but if I had other shoes on I would have had to of taken them off for sure :lol

Oh definitely will make sure I am cleared to fly before I even buy the tickets. I dont know how long we'd be spending in each place but I think we'd spend a week in So Cal.

My sister flew from South Korea to Austraila via Japan at 32 weeks and the lady at coustoms in Austraila were surprised they let her on the plane. Airlines prefer you not to fly once you reach 7 mths. Main reason is if you go into premature labour, there is no guarentee there will be a doc on the plane, also if you do, they have to give you and the child free airfare with that airline fore the rest of your lives. Not sure if the second part is true, but that's what I've been told

Well if it is true I am going to try and go into labour :lmao

I think, depending on the airline, you can fly up until you are 8 months with a waiver from your doc :dunno Just something I have heard. But I have never flown while pregnant.

I flew at 36 weeks roundtrip to San Diego from Honolulu. I had an extremely pleasant pregnancy, so flying that late in my pregnancy had no effects on my body.

Your parents sound like mine!!!!!!!!!!
They've got 6 cars. I keep teasing them that their circular driveway is a used car lot....LOL!!!! I wish I could drive my Dad's BMW M5, but I have NO idea how to drive stick properly. :(

Not sure when my next trip to San Diego will be, maybe I'll plan mine around yours. :P

I flew at 17 weeks to and from Italy from Jacksonville, Florida. I think it was around 10 hours there and 11 hours back. The way there wasn't too bad, I just couldn't sleep for ANYTHING, but not because I had problems.

On the way back, however, my feet and ankles swelled REALLY bad. They haven't since then. I think that was a combination though, of walking MANY miles & hours a day around Italy for 5 days, eating salty stuff, and not staying hydrated enough. Try hard to get a exit row or bulk head seat for more room to stretch out! Good luck!

I flew at my limit which was (34 weeks). LOL DH was gone for a month, and I wanted to visit family, and my mom threw me a babyshower, soooo it was perfect for me. If I would have had any problems before my 34 weeks, I would NOT have flown. It wasn't really any different, but I didn't fly for longer than an hour at a time.

Actually, how I forgot I don't know.....(placenta brain maybe?), I am flying for work to Kansas City, MO next week from Jacksonville, FL. I will be 28 weeks. I also flew to Boston, Ma the week after the Italy trip, so I would have been 18 weeks. The Boston trip was easy peasy! No problems, as it was much shorter than 11 hours!

If I remeber correctly, it is safe to fly up until 33 weeks. I flew when i was about 6 months preggo with my son and had my two daughters(they were like 3 and 1 at the time) with me by myself, that sucked. But the flight was fine

I flew when I was 29 weeks pregnant... I was fine, it was a pain that I was stuck in the middle of a row and had to pee every 10 minutes and climb over a row of people to do so, but other than that I was fine. I know that I had to get a waiver from my Dr. office saying I was approved to fly, but I think it depends on the airline. The Air Force MADE my mom fly back from Japan to Mississippi on space-A when she was 38 weeks pregnant with me, and the plain was doing take off and landing practice routines. She said it sucked, but she lived and I lived lol... that was 21 years ago, though. lol

Any pregnant woman flying after 24 weeks of pregnancy might be asked to have a letter from a doctor confirming that it is safe for her to travel .

Some airlines will not carry women who are more than 32 weeks pregnant, but this is an individual decision on the part of the airline. It's important that you speak to the airline to establish whether they have such a limit.

The main concerns about travelling in the later stages of pregnancy relate to the chance of delivering early and the lack of necessary care if required.

Pregnancy and labour can be dangerous and it is not always possible to foresee complications.
It is not possible to say whether or not you are likely to have your baby early but certain circumstances make it more likely;
Between 5 and 10 per cent of all deliveries occur before 37 weeks gestation.

If you are fit and well and have had a trouble free pregnancy, the likelihood is that you will deliver close to your due date, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Speak to your Doctor, or to whoever has been looking after your care during this pregnancy, and take their advice on when you should fly.

In general, try to avoid flying after 32 weeks.
Keep moving around at regular intervals.
And dont forget your pressure stockings, loose clothing ,plenty of water (dehydration can lead to DVT),aisle or bulkhead seat and a soft pillow.
Hope all goes well. Happy flying
