:tearsI was at work, and on my lunch i checked my phone. I had a missed call and a voicemail from DH. He sounded so out of it. I couldn't understand EVERYTHING he said because he was really "groggy" sounding (he said because he's on alot of meds) and plus the phone was breakinh up (OF COURSE!:vent). He said that yesterday when he went on a mission he was hurt, but he didn't say WHAT hurt him ughhh, and I know tim, I know he didn't tell me what happened because he doesn't want me to worry- BUT I AM WORRIED MORE NOW :tears. He said he went to the doctor and they have him on a lot of meds, and that he will call me when he wakes up tommorow. He said he is okay, and dollar is okay (his k9)

I am grateful that he is okay, but i wish he would have just TOLD ME what happened on the voicemail instead of trying to protect me and keep me from worrying, because it is having the EXACT OPPOSITE EFFECT!

he said in his voicemail

"i got...i got...." then he changed his mind and said "i had to go to the doctor's"

thats the thing about him not telling me...i don't know what to think.

I called my mom (She's Army, she's a nurse, and she is a Psychologist) She's good at picking up on things that aren't necessarily said, and i let her listen to the message. She said it sounds like he is on muscle relaxers, and that it is something big vs something small....i'm really worried.

I know how you feel and I am so sorry for you both. Good news is he was able to tell you which means it isnt that bad and will be just fine. All will be fine and this just might mean he will be on desk duty for awhile just like my hubby is which really does make things easier. I am here if you ever need me.

I'm so sorry hun! :( But I am glad he and the K9 are o.k. Him being able to talk is a great sign. If it were really bad "'they" would have called you. I really hope he's not hurt too badly. Not to distract from it ,but if he's not so well they might have to send him back to you sooner. It's not a nice way to come home early but it's a possibility. AW, I'm SO sorry he got hurt :tears Hope he's doing okay. Please keep us updated!

Trying to be positive here:

1. He called you not Red Cross or someone from his command. That's a good sign.
2. He could have been going to say "I got hurt" or something like that. It's easy to jump to the conclusion that it was "shot" but that might not be the case.
3. If he did get shot, he was okay enough to call you. He probably didn't want to use that word on a voicemail. It could be a graze or something like that. It doesn't automatically jump to the worst conclusion we always do.
4. Muscle relaxers are used for tons of things. I was on muscle relaxers because of my back. The military prescribes them quite freely. My DH was on them when he over-extended his back, and for when he hurt his knee. So it's not certainly the worst.
5. He said he would call you today. If he were getting med-vaced out, he wouldn't have said that. If he's not being med-vaced out, then he's not seriously hurt.

Hang in there. I know it's terrifying, and I hope he calls you with more answers today. I'm sure he didn't want to scare you further without giving you the full details which he couldn't do on a voicemail.

Hang onto the fact that he called you personally and that's a really good sign. My prayers are with you both. I hope everything is okay and you get to know more today. Is there anyone at his command that you know that you could call?

If you don't hear something today I would suggest a call to your Ombudsman and see if she can find something out for you.

I seriously can't express it into words how thankful I am for his service, and for all of our men's service- He is so brave...he told me what happened and I just can't believe what is going on over there- it's just really REAL to me now:neutral. You must have been at least a little releaved when you heard from him again. It always sucks when they get hurt because you can't be sure how bad it is and how much of a show they are putting on for you. My DH has been hurt twice since he left already, I guess we can both be glad they weren't "serious" hurts. Still makes my heart race each time. Much love to you sweetie!!!
