If you HAD to give up one of your senses, which would it be?

I know smell and taste go together, but for the sake of fun I made them seperate options. :)

I said smell/taste b/c I completely lost my sense of smell and taste for over 6 months due to a horrific car accident (7 yrs. ago). It was interesting b/c I didn't have the desire to eat as much #1 b/c nothing smelled delicious. Also, I didn't have the desire to snack or anything b/c food had no taste at all. So I really only ate and drank when I was truly hungry or thirsty. I lost over 20 lbs, but I've gained it all back (not as thrilled about that :)).

Smell. I would probably be skinnier b/c I wouldn't be able to smell or really even taste good food. PLus, I wouldn't have to gag everytime I change one of Hunter's diapers. :yes

Hearing.
As an artist, my nightmare is losing my site or my right hand.

I can't imagine losing the ability to taste my beloved boiled crawfish...

And I LOVE scents - food, flowers, fresh cut grass, baby powder...

I think the worst thing about losing your hearing might be if you hear a really annoying song right before your hearing goes, and it gets stuck in your head...

I would GIVE UP smell. I voted "vision" because if I could have only ONE sense, that would be it. The world it too beautiful not to see!

I said smell,even though that pretty much kills your sense of taste as well.

I voted for hearing. I already know ASL, so I guess it wouldn't be a HUGE transition for me. But it would be hard to never hear my daughter talk again.

I would hate to loose my sight :( To never see my friends or family again would be heart breaking.

Smell and taste are so valuable to me. I love food too much to loose that.

I voted smell... but the more I think about it, I think I would change it to taste. It would benefit me in eating more salads and fish and such. The healthier foods that I don't really like cause they don't have as much flavor or I don't like the way they taste. So if it all tasted the same, I would eat the healthier stuff and at least have the benefit of loosing some weight! haha I love the way that candles and such smell and I hate it when my house smells bad, so if I couldn't smell I would never know when to light a candle! lol Plus I love the way that DH smells. I always smell him when we are going to bed and I would hate for that to be taken away! I would really hate to loose my site or my hearing. To be able to hear DH's voice and see his face, priceless sometimes!

I said hearing because I'm not bad at sign language and i'd totally love to get better...

I say taste because I couldn't bear not hearing or seeing my kids and if I can still smell food will still be ok.

For those opting to give up "smell" just remember that losing that sense will also have an impact on your sense of taste. Just think of how different food is when you have a really bad cold - not being able to smell the food can remove most, and sometimes all, of the flavor experience.

Taste. I cant imagine not being able to smell my DH. I loved the way his shirts smells.

smell because i would lose weight and because some smells arent that pleasant

I went with smell too, at least I'd still be able to see all the ones I love, drive and do all those things, and hear, because, say there was a fire or something, you'd hear the fire alarm. I can't smell half the time anyway :) Its not that bad!! ESPECIALLY when DB farts lol

I said smell because of the man I live with! His farts are something aweful!!!!

I said smell. I LOVE food so much but I rather watch and hear my kids once I have them than smell the diapers lol

Smell. My allergies are so bad that I can't smell half to time anway, so it wouldn't be that much of a difference to me, lol.

Smell hands down, especially lately since the boys have been sick and their diapers are so stinking raunchy! I couldn't imagine never seeing my children or husband again or not hearing their sweet voices say I love you. Taste, eh, I like food but it wouldn't bother me as much. So smell is definately the one I would give up in a heartbeat.

I going for smell. I think it would be the easiest one for me to say goodbye too. Plus I have smelly dogs that fart and it would be great to never have to smell that again!

i mean, i LOVE food and all, but if i couldn't taste it, then i could eat all that healthy crap that i hate, and avoid all the junk that i love

I have a really sensitive nose anyways and bad smells really turn me off.

I said taste....I couldn't handle not being able to smell my loved ones...I love music so I gotta hear it...and I would go crazy if I couldn't read music or drive or see my loved ones!

My choice was for smell
