What issue is the most important? I know there are a lot that we are concerned with, but what ONE issue weighs your vote the most heavily? :thinking

I put this here, because there wasn't really a better place for it. :)

Oh geez, that is hard. I have 2 issues that are extremely important to me, so that is hard to choose. I'd say they are both equally important in my eyes, but since you said ONE issue...

Healthcare

I must say it's a bit unnerving seeing all the spouses of guys who are out of the military are worried about healthcare. :hehe Just an interesting point. :)

I have two...which seem to be what most everyone is...Taking care of the military and Healthcare - I think more people should be able to take care of themselves. I find AD families and retirees lucky that we have such great care!

:lmao Hey, when you are a civilian with no healthcare, it becomes a HUGE issue. I always think it is unnerving when people in the military want to vote for the candidates who will keep the war going. So, there ya go. :lol

Well actually I was more nervous because we are 100% sure about getting out in 18 months. :hehe Healthcare should probably be a bit higher on my list, eh? :lol

I know for me... I had NO IDEA how big of a deal it was until Adam was out. It's a scary scary thing to have no way to go to the doctor without completely ruining your credit and racking up the bills by the thousands with every single doctor visit.

Maybe I worry about it too much? :lol I can't help it though, I know too many people who have lost everything when they got sick.

:giggle Probably so.

Yep, I so enjoy paying $500 a month for health insurance, on top of having a $2,500 deductible for my insurance before co-pays, and DH & DS have a $1,500 Deductible on theirs. Its getting OLD real fast, not to mention breaking our bank account.

Holy cow!! We have blue cross and he pays 300 a month for all of us (3). Our deductible was 250. When he had orientation for his job, they gave him the DOD healthcare list. He chose BC cause he and I can use it everywhere (likeif we are traveling).

That sounds just like the insurance plan at Adam's job. We can't afford it, plain and simple. Even if we canceled EVERYTHING... cell phones, cable, internet, car insurance... all of that stuff doesn't add up to the monthly premium, not to mention that we still have to pay out of pocket for everything until we reach the deductible. It's ridiculous. We are shopping around for private insurance instead, but haven't found anything affordable yet. So, we are living with the "hoping we don't get sick" plan. :P

I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield, but I have a pre-existing condition (Epilepsy), so hence the reason why we pay so much. We pay for our own insurance, and do not go through DH's job. I don't like the idea of going through an employer because should you lose your job, you have no insurance. I can't afford not to have insurance because I have alot of medical problems. Problem is that paying for our insurance is hurting us financially in a very big way.

Sad isn't it that people have to opt not to have health insurance because it is SO expensive. We have private insurance, and it is still that expensive. I'm on my own plan because of my medical problems, and DH & DS are on a different plan.

Oh I know how hard it is, I had no insurance for the longest time. Its a shame that families cant afford that, but our country has money or other things.

I know PA has a great program for families without insurance. We were hoping that DH becoming diabetic wouldnt hurt us, and thus far it hasnt. But the small lab fees and everything else adds up!

I think with him getting out its been a good/bad thing. I love having better healthcare now that he is out, but the little fees suck!

That's really important to me too... and I think that energy policy leaks into other areas as well. It's just not my TOP priority.

I'm torn between military and healthcare... I would say right now since DH plans on being in for 20 years and I have so many friends in the military that I would say military right now...

Healthcare comes a close second because I know what it was like before DH was in the army. This december I got pneumonia and I got the bills for it (all taken care of buy the army) but there's no way we would have been able to do it. We couldn't have paid the rent and buy my prescriptions. What is more likely to have happened is I wouldn't have gone to the hospital at all because I would have known we couldn't afford it. I would have hated to know what would have happened to me... thinking about it scares me...
