My husband is newly diagnosed with PTSD. What will this mean for his military career? Does PTSD automatically kick him out of the military??? He is scared to death of being kicked out and not being able to do anything outside the military. I just want him well. HELP!!!

I'm in the Army and I have PTSD and I'm still in. I also have been deployed after the diagnosis, but that's the reserves for you. I think it depends on how much it is bothering him. I understand how important the military is to your husband, but also his mental health is important too. Counseling helped me and also talking to other soldiers about it made me feel better. It's easier for females to talk about their feelings so this maybe an issue for your husband. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I hope this helps.

No hun, not at all. I guess it depends on the extent of his PTSD. My husband has TBI, PTSD and was severly injured from an IED(he was on life support for a month) and he is STILL in. We are working on getting out with a med board though since he can't physically do his job anymore.
But enough about me, don't stress too much about the PTSD stigma, almost ALL the veterans are diagnosed with it now. This war is really taken it's toll on our guys!:cheerup
