Yes , that is right girls. you red the title post right. i am one of those "Second Life residents" as is my Dh, Jeff, and Mak327,. There are a few others on her e that are as well. this is what Mak327, myself and jeff would like from you all(Brandi- this could help bring more members tothe site too) (Addie greenwood, Jeff mirabeau and Shaunny Stovall- all Second Life names of course) want to help make it easier for residents in the virtaul community that are or have been with the armed forces be it foreign or US,,, raise monies to help with costs of revuilding homes for the disabled veteran's and health care as well and other things they might need.
Second Life reaches out to ALL COUNTRUES this includes Europe and South America- i have met many people within this "birtaul community" that are caring and loving and willing to help. TThe Relay For Life(the same Relay For Life thatis done here inthe states went into Second Life to help raise even more funds for more monies(funds) to help out more peeople and to fund more researchin the cancer community. raised i believe the last number i saww was $200K USD.
If Relay For life can do this. why can't we? As Military spouses and girlfriends and AD/ reserve service members wanting to gelp the disabled people that are returning home from this war and past wars. they all need our help!
PS- thank you all for readin this, here is the site for you to check this out- www.secondlife.com

Yay for this post. I just want to add that if you're not a SL resident. It is free to do so. They have premium accounts, but you don't have to have one. I know I don't have one. It is free to join so come on in and join us in SL if you're not already. We've got a great group of Vets that we're working with and we all have a blast! So, come on and join the second life community FOR FREE!!!

I just got the email a few days ago and haven't had a chance to look over the site yet (I'll make a note to do that tonight) but I am kind of confused about what it actually is. Wht exactly does everything do/mean? Can you break it down in super dummy terms? :lol

www.secondlife.com is the website. There's not much to it. I'm not sure hwo to answer you on what it is. You create an avatar, make friends, play games, shop, build, whatever you want to do. It is your second life. Maybe the website will tell you more about it.

That sounds awsome.

Rally for Life is I think on its Second Year in SL maybe 3rd... and I know that many people want to do something for the troops at war and the ones returning.

I personally know a few Army people. One lady has been in the army for over 10 years... and wants something that is based in SL (that is not just a group) for people to raise funds and hold events to help out within the RL community.

If you can get Linden interaction to help out with it then they can post it on the Website and when people log in just like what they do for Rally for Life. The best would be to contact Paul or Craig.. but they are so hard to get to these days when they aren't hitting on some random chick. :sigh But I am sure that another Linden might help. :D

To explain Second Life.. LOL

By. Lo. Linden

Second Life (SL) is a community based "Game". It is built up by the players and ultimatly "owned" by the players. The only interaction that comes from the Corp. (the people that made the game) is when Linden interaction is needed to reslove a dispute, Harrasment or anything that would go against the TOS (Terms of Service).

Players build the buildings, make the clothes and decide what happens within the community. It is just like real life but within a computer based community.

(Quoted by Lo. Linden)

In retrospect it is.... The Sims Online ON Crack! ^.^ (sorry still on my crack just left world)

When I sign up, which area should I join?

what do you mean? There aren't "areas" like in WoW. It is just one big world.

Well, on the main registration page, it has all of these different things on the left like different "regions" or something? There is one for Scion also :thinkin I am just confused :lmao

I'm going to go look now, b/c when I registered, i didnt' have anything about a region

I think I know what you're talking about, where you can join a community in the first step, I would just click the "start at linden labs orientation island" thing, b/c it will take you through the basics and you can always go away from there. I've never been to any of the other starting locations. Those are just corporate sponsors who have starting points that would walk you through orientation in a different way than the creators do it. Once you're in the game, you can go anywhere. Unlike WoW, where you have to be in the same region to interact with people, everyone's in one big world on SL
