Hi ladies! I might sound like a bad friend, but my bf just met a guy on eharmony a couple of weeks ago. Everything's great, they're in love, and all I can think is why is her guy here and mine is deployed, risking his life? I'm happy for her, but so jealous at the same time. And it doesn't help that he's all she can talk about (hmmm, kind of like me with my husband deploying). To top it all off, she told me tonight that she understands more how I feel because if her boyfriend were going to Iraq to she'd be freaking out. Ummm, OK, this is a guy you've been seeing for 2 weeks vs. my husband, whose child I'm carrying. I feel like such a b**ch, but there it is. Thank goodness for SOS and thanks for reading my vent!

:hugs I think everyone has those thoughts sometime during deployment. I would just have to stop myself and try to remember how I was when I first met my DH and was in that stage of euphoria...it was hard to see anything else or anyone else's problems!

I think it is only human to feel that way. Sometimes I look around just at the grocery store and think how so many people take for granted the fact that they can actually go grocery shopping with their DH...We look at things completely different than civilian people do. And she may say it, but I don't think many people unless really in a similar if not worse circumstance, can understand what it is like. She says she would freak out but really, she has no idea. Don't let it get the best of you. As much as I hate to say it, right now it is lust not love in my eyes. Try and be happy for her but make sure you get time to talk about you and your DH also.

i think everyone is sick of hearing people say that "they understand".. they don't, which is why most of us have ended up here. i have learned to just tell them, straight out, you don't understand, but i appreciate your concern.. they usually are quiet for a minute, think through their actions, and move on..
glad we could listen though..

I know exactly how it feels when someone says they understand and they don't. The exact day that dh left, some friends tried to get me to go out for a night on the town. That Day! :vent I'm sure they meant well, but everyone knows that the first day without your SO, you really want to stay home.

Thanks ladies for the advice. It really helps to know there are others who understand!
