Sorry if this has already been posted before.... but did anybody see the special on Discovery or TLC (I can't remember which one it was) called "Half Man Half Tree"?? It's about people with this rare skin condition that causes tree-like warts to grow out of the skin?? Here is a clip of it.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJLG85gn0bc It's kind of gross-looking, so don't watch if you have a really weak stomach!
Has anyone heard of this condition before and what causes it?!? It's so sad.. these poor people!!

I watch that a week or so ago. I will have to admit it was very hard to swallow. I can only imagine how hard life must be. I feel so horrible for people who REALLY suffer. We have nothing to complain about thats for sure.

thats soo weird.. I can not imagine.. doesn't seem like it could be real..
I saw a news article on someone who had something like that recently. It was a case of warts (caused by a strain of HPV I believe, but can't remember) coupled, most likely they said, from a weakened immune system due to a genetic disorder. It was in a really poor nation, so the guy hadn't been able to get any help and the things had gotten infected and worse until it was pretty tree-like. Seemed like a terrible combination of warts and a weakened immune system at the worst possible time.
ETA: I think they got him on antibiotics or something and were hoping to get it mostly cleared up though? I thought I read that, but this was the only article I could find now: http://www.news.com.au/entertainment/story/0,26278,23125580-5007185,00.html

I saw that about a week ago and I had to turn the channel. I can't handle skin aliments like that. It broke my heart for him though... I just can't imagine how helpless he must have felt

It's horrible to see people suffer like that, it makes me sad. To not be able to take care of my children would be horrible.
