My husband and I just opened a new checking acct and a savings acct and we were going to use that bank for our regular accounts and then keep out old checking account open and just use that one to pay off bills. His direct deposit was going to the old one, but I went on myPay yesterday and put in our new routing number and account number and it said that it would change by March '08. I absolutely HATE this new bank-online banking is a joke, it won't let me access my checking account online, only my savings, and it's saying a check is cleared into my savings account when its really on hold until the 9th (and the customer service rep I talked to said "That's weird, I don't know what to tell tell you"--very helpful). So I want to close these 2 accounts as soon as possible-baby due in less then 3 weeks and I don't want to have to drag him around to banks as soon as he gets out of the hospital haha. I went on myPay just now and it still shows the direct deposit is going to our original account, but I know that it will show that until March, when it switches, so my question is is there any way to cancel the direct deposit going to the new bank at all? Is there a phone number for DFAS so i can make sure that it never gets switched? Because I don't want to have to wait until March when it goes to the new bank, then switch it on myPay and have to wait 2-4 weeks for it to get switched AGAIN-I want to be DONE with this bank! Thanks!

just go and switch it on mypay. It should take effect in march ( or it will tell you when it will be effective. Either way You really should keep the other account open just incase. You never want to close the accounts till the deposits are going where they should kwim.

when you do something online with Mypay, it takes a couple of days to show up. you wont be able to change till it shows the change that you made. The only way you can call and do is to call DFAS and that is a huge pain in the butt.
