ok, so I used UPS to send DB a package for his birthday tomorrow... I'm in Florida, he's in Iraq, the thing was only supposed to take a week to get there.. it's been 2. :bangheadSo I asked him if he got it & he said no. I looked up the tracking number & ITS IN FREAKING SAN DIEGO???? :duh HOW the HELL do they manage do to that???!!! :tsktsk
OMG hes never gonna get his stuff by tomorrow even if I were freaking Superwoman!! :grumpy I really hoped it would, thats why I sent it so early!!!
& now I have to wait for the freaking thing to get sent back to me, then re-package it, purchase new insurance on it with all those stupid papers to fill out, and REsend it!! OMG people PISS me OFF!!! :censored :screwy
AT LEAST its not lost, because I put a portable DVD player & movies in it, a digital camera, LOTS of batteries, those little solitaire electroic games & a crap load of snacks... grand total of about $400 worth of stuff in it... But I'm not stupid, I got insurance on it, BUT THEY STILL PISS ME OFF!!!!! :vent

Ladies!!! MENTAL NOTE: NEVER USE UPS!!! go for USPS!!! I'm sending it through them when I get the freaking thing BACK! :reallymad

when things are shipped. They are shipped from where you are through them to a military base and then once at the base all that money you paid for shipping doesnt matter because its up to the military to then send it out and they dont send things out till things are full. So your package was sent to cali to a base to then be sent to him

Well, I've sent through USPS before & was told UPS was faster & less expensive, so I gave it a shot. I just called FedEx and DHL after reading this & they don't ship to APO addresses!! GURR!! lol looks like I'm stuck!! lol

OH! And as for the package being in San Diego to be shipped from a base, it's not at a base. It's been riding around in some incompetent guys truck for the last 4 days... It was ORIGINALLY supposed to be put in a shipment to a base in South Carolina, then to a base in Italy, then to the base where DB is.. according to the lady at the call center for UPS. I don't think she was supposed to tell me all that *hehehe* But anyways... It got sent to Cali for some reason, then not brought back to the station for it to be sent to SC like it was supposed to, & I just told them to return it to me & I'm not worry about them anymore...

That sucks! I hope you requested for a refund! It must be new that UPS ships to APF/FPO addresses.

I guess so? I don't know.... I just walked into the little UPS Store next to SweetBay one day & asked them if they did.. Apparently they do, just not very well! lol & Yeah!! I Definitely asked for a refund!!! The only thing I don't get back is the $50 package insurance... Which I guess is okay, seeing as how I at least get that much back & the thing wasn't COMPLETELY lost...

From now on, use the USPS for shipping packages to APO and FPO addresses.. it's the ONLY dependable shipping method for those who are deployed.

I get all my mail through USPS because I have an FPO addy. It's the ONLY way to go. UPS, DHL, and FedEx are not good, esp. because if by some chance we get them we may have to pay customs fees too.

:agree My husband is a PC and when we lived overseas, we had an FPO address. People would try to send things UPS, but honestly, things that go UPS/FedEx/DHL go to the same place that the USPS stuff goes, and then the USPS takes over.

It's definitely not worth the extra money to go through one of those companies...and I would definitely just go with them and send boxes earlier, rather than try to get them 'expressed' there. It never works. (Yeah, it's my first deployment, but my dad, uncle, and 3 brothers have been deployed before).

Good luck.
