So my sister is about to graduate from the University of Washington with honors from the Communications Department. She has been interning with a local Autism non-profit for the past year. Well they offered her a job a couple of months ago... the pay is minimal (obviously, as it's a non-profit), but she loves it and decided to accept the offer.
Well, she was in class the other day, and they had a reporter in there, and she went and talked to her after class. She told them about this problem they are working, that insurance companies are trying to deny the little computer communication systems to autistic children. So the reporter got my sisters contact information and is going to report about it on the local news to get community support.
She walks in to work the other day, and her boss (the owner of the business) is sitting at her desk and asks her what classes she is taking next semester... he then tells her to take an Accounting class for non-profit, because he is going to start training her this summer to be ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS!!!! She is 21 years old! He is so impressed with what she has already done for the company as an intern, that he wants her to be involved in all aspects of the company. I am just so damn proud of her, it brings tears to my eyes thinking about it!
Anyways, just wanted to share. (L)
