I just got a Riccar Vacumm and it was awesome so far!! It is made in America so I spent a bit more but I am very happy with it!

I got it at a local vacumm place. Mom and Pop joint. It is made of metal. Not plastic. I asked about a Dyson and he told me that to fix one, after the 5 year warrenty, it EXPENSIVE!!! He said you can even fix them but are going to pay for it big time. The brush is a easy replacement and you can replace each individual brushes. I also got the small hand held vacumm from the same company and it sucked up cat hair like there was no tomorrow. I am SOOOO impressed.
