I am wanting to put Madison in a pageant on the 23rd of this month. I have to see if my dad will give me the money but do you think this dress is appropriate? :D
Mommy2Bailey 02-09-2008, 04:37 PM i dont think pagents are a good idea. especially for babies and children. but the dress is beautiful.
JudyB 02-09-2008, 04:38 PM The thing at the neck looks like it would be rather irritating to a little baby...I would look for something else :yes

Do you mind if I ask why you think its not good idea? I am just wondering. I was in pageants and I loved it. I always thought the baby ones were ADORABLE ! Oh and I am not talking about the ones where the kids are made to look like hookers ( I dont like those at all )

Thats the head band :D Its sold separately.
Mommy2Bailey 02-09-2008, 04:42 PM i think it is detrimental to their self esteem. how do the kids feel that loose? Do they think they are ugly cause they didnt win? Thats just my opinion though. i think its basically pimping your daughters. But if you are ok with it go for it! She is beautiful enough to win i am sure!

Oh :lol
What about a softer material for the whole dress...I don't know why but it just looks uncomfortable

All pageant dresses are really uncomfortable. If I can get it for her she wont have to wear it for a long time and thats the best and worst part about it. Paying so much for a dress to wear one time to 15-20 minutes.

Well for babies they are judged only on their looks because they cant do talent portions or the interviews but with older kids I can see what you are saying but I think it teaches young girls alot. Public speaking is one of the hardest parts. thanks for the compliment and I think bailey would be beautiful enough to win ! She is a DOLL !!!

hah! the only portion she could win would be the crying part...lol
i probably wouldn't put ellie in one, simply because it's unfair (IMO) to shove them in one of those uncomfortable dresses at such an early age before they have a choice in the matter LOL if she was older and could CHOOSE to be in one, maybe... but before that period of time, don't think so. i don't think i'd encourage it at an older age either, but if either of my girls approached me independently wanting to do it, i'd say for them to go for it. it seems silly to spend all that $$ simply to show off my kid.

Awwww :)
*Samantha* 02-09-2008, 09:05 PM Love the dress and agree on the thing around the neck looks like it might be uncomfortable for her
USNIwife 02-09-2008, 09:12 PM looks like a pretty pageant dress
HEIDI 02-09-2008, 09:34 PM I hink pagents are fine.. My dd was in one and she had a good time... She was 4 or 4 when she participated and ALL kids won something. As far as the dress I would go with something a little "softer"
Green~Mammy 02-09-2008, 09:42 PM I think she is a baby and if you feel her temperament will be ok for the brief time she has to be all gussied up then go for it. (after all it is no more uncomfortable then a party dress for family portraits.) She is not old enough to know what losing or winning means so no harm there either. If when she is older she doesn't like it then just let her stop doing them. I think the natural child pageants are just fine.

Thats how I feel about it too. :D I think she will do fine I will just have to schedule a feeding right before its time to go out there. I really hope it works out and she doesnt cry on stage.

My MIL says the same thing. She wants me to get the same dress just in a pale pink. I just love the red though and theres going to be ALOT of babies in the pageant I want her to stand out. Oh and it being so close to Valentines Day I have to go with the red. :D
Shep's Wife 02-09-2008, 09:58 PM I like the dress, very cute :thumbsup
You will have to get her some matching ruffly socks to go with it!!
jays_wifeyUSMC 02-11-2008, 05:23 PM I dont think she was asking opinions on pageants....:whatever
I think she will look cute!! I want to put DD in a southern belle pagent when she's around 3 if we are still stationed in the south of course. :)

DakotaCowgirl 02-13-2008, 09:45 AM I didn't want to do it. I just hope the moms keep their heads together because the little kids don't know better. To them it is just a game.
